:wtf:

This is not just dumb, mean and racist, it's also a piece of shit. It's unfunny. It's lazy-assed. It doesn't scan. It has the bite of a sock puppet. I repeat: this worthless dreck is what passes for satire in the right wing?

:wtf:

Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.

The L.A. Times, they called him that

'Cause he's not authentic like me.

Yeah, the guy from the L.A. paper

Said he makes guilty whites feel good

They'll vote for him, and not for me

'Cause he's not from the hood.

See, real black men, like Snoop Dog,

Or me, or Farrakhan

Have talked the talk, and walked the walk.

Not come in late and won!

Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.

The L.A. Times, they called him that

'Cause he's black, but not authentically.

Oh, Barack the Magic Negro, lives in D.C.

The L.A. Times, they called him that

'Cause he's black, but not authentically.

Some say Barack's "articulate"

And bright and new and "clean."

The media sure loves this guy,

A white interloper's dream!

But, when you vote for president,

Watch out, and don't be fooled!

Don't vote the Magic Negro in --

'Cause -- 'cause I won't have nothing after all these years of sacrifice

And I won't get justice. This is about justice. This isn't about me, it's about justice.

It's about buffet. I don't have no buffet and there won't be any church contributions,

And there'll be no cash in the collection plate.

There ain't gonna be no cash money, no walkin' around money, no phoning money.

Now, Barack going to come in here and --

1. Nothing is more pathetic than right wingers trying to be funny
It's as if they were born without a sense of humor and so they think insults are humor.

15. I've been saying that for quite a while!
This is about as lame as John McCain singing "bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran".

3. Yesterday, I heard Rush try to again defend his insipid shtick.
He tried to justify it on the claim that he was satirizing the MSM's comments on the Senator's race. I don't get it, either.

4. Can Peter Yarrow sue for copyright infringement?
I can't believe he would have given permission for his music to be used in such a manner.

13. probably not
parody is generally covered under "fair use". That's why the Fox Noise suit against Al Franken for the "Fair and Balanced" in the title of Lying Liars never went anywere.

5. WTF?
I don't get it.

How is Barack "cleaner" than other blacks? There are tons of articulate blacks in the Congressional black caucus alone. It's pretty hard to attain elected office if you're not articulate.

I don't recall ever hearing any dem say any of these things about Obama.

And is Farrakhan even a democrat?

How does this disjointed mess of a "song" even qualify as criticism? What does it even really have to do with Barack Obama or the reason people support him?

All I can figure is Rush is trying to remind people that Obama is black and thus "scary".

I was expecting Rush to be a do a bunch of Obama/Osama gags - even that would be better than this - at least it would kinda make sense...

6. I think this is, in its ham-fisted way, trying to imply that "guilty" white liberals
can feel good about supporting Obama because he is "clean and articulate" (didn't Biden say that?), supposedly unlike Snoop Dog, Farrakan, etc.

The point is lame, witless, and poorly conveyed, but that's right-wing "satire" for you.

Ever seen the Protest Warriors, those dulldards who showed up at anti-war demonstration carrying signs that were supposed to satirize the movement?

I can't remember any of their lame-ass signs now...but I do recall that some real rightwingers actually thought they were liberals and the beat the shit out them. Now THAT'S hilarious!

http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2005/08/28/17629331.php

SNIP
Free Republic and the their right-wing youth group of “ironic” Protest Warriors were repeatedly thanked for their support and participation in the rally. The Protest Warriors are young people who usually appear at anti-war related activities with slogans based on “right-wing irony,” such as “War Has Never Solved Anything (except for everything).” However, in a odd turn of events, and despite repeated pleadings that “we are on your side, we are on the right,” the rally turned on these kids. Shouting “Cindy Go Home!” a small mob gathered around the three or four Protest Warriors, attacked their oversized signs, and began stomping on the signs.

Visibly shaken, the Protest Warriors beat a retreat from the rally to the chants of “Get Out of Here Liars!” Over and over again, “We are on your side” were meet by “Liars!” One man clarified that even if they were trying to support the war, they were confusing people, and that “it is the devil who wanted to sew confusion.” It is safe to say that irony, or any opinions that hinted at “shades of gray” were not welcome in Bush Country.

7. Well, I personally don't feel the least bit guilty for being white.
I don't believe that culpability for crimes is hereditary, nor is it to be borne by all members of a race, even if they did not participate in said crime.

I have never oppressed or directed slurs at or enslaved a black person. I suppose I have enjoyed a slight advantage having been born a working-class white male rather than a minority, but again, that was not my doing.

I've yet to decide who I'll support in the primary. If it is Obama, it will be because of his policies and position on the war, not his race, and not guilt.

I would not support Snoop Dogg, because a. he is a habitual pothead, b. he has promoted gang violence in his music c. I don't think he's remotely qualified.

I would not support Farrakhan because a. he is a highly polarizing figure, even within the black community b. he has been openly hostile to whites and jews c. I don't think he's a progressive or a liberal.

Thanks for the photos of the murder-loving nutjobs.

17. That's the rightwing stereotype, though
They think the only reason we could want civil and equal rights because we're plagued with so-called "liberal guilt."

It can't be because we value human dignity and insist on equal justice for everyone.

And the juxtaposition of Obama with Farrakan and Dogg is just a strawman. That's like trying to say the only differences among white men are between Noam Chomsky and Larry the Cable Guy...

8. The guy singing it is doing so in his best Sharpton voice BTW...
Actually the "clean" and "articulate" comments came from Joe Biden I believe....yep here's the quote:

=========================================
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American presidential candidate who is articulate and bright and clean-cut and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man,”

I guess that means he's saying that Jesse Jackson was inarticulate, dull-witted, disheveled and ugly?

18. I get what you're saying, but...
"It's pretty hard to attain elected office if you're not articulate" - I'm pretty sure the Chimp-in-Chief is a direct refutation of that. ;) :hi: Peace.

19. As Ann Richards used to say...
"Poor George. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."

The BFEE's silver foot does buy a lot - entrance to Yale and Harvard (and someone to do all your schoolwork for you), governorships, and even the presidency.

9. Most of it doesn't even fit the original melody and/or syllable count!
It's not particularly funny in the first place (not at all, actually), but the forced nature of the lyrics makes it even worse.

11. Rush is doing this because he knows if he gets any flack for it,
he'll say that he's only quoting such and such. He's baiting is what he's doing. If he gets in trouble for it, he'll point to the fact that the people he quoted didn't get any flack for it.
