48. He's there to see the drug shipment handed over.
"Saturday Night Live" in the mid-1980s had a series of skits called "Lyndon LaRouche Theatre", satirizing his national TV ads by casting them as a parody of Masterpiece Theatre (LaRouche typically spoke from an armchair in a library.) For example, one skit shows Queen Elizabeth II as a drug dealer. (The author of these skits, comedian Al Franken, broke his glasses helping security personnel remove a LaRouche follower who was heckling Howard Dean during the 2004 Presidential primary season in New Hampshire.<76>)

While neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince Phillip look like they are enjoying themselves, they are both attentive to what is going on. Pickles and the woman on Phillip's other side both look they are dozing, and the expression on *'s face reminds me of Homer Simpson dreaming of the Land of Chocolate.

We really have a classy bunch running our country, don't we?

79. Sadly, Itzhak Perlman, one of the world's greatest fiddlers, is performing for them.
And they just don't give a shit, obviously. ANY of them. They have NO INTEREST in his artistry, nor do they give a shit how incredibly fortunate they are to be able to hear such a gifted artist LIVE. I saw Perlman when I was a kid in the late 60s, when he was a rising star in the classical world, performing with the local symphony.

I was in excellent school & amateur orchestras for many years (violin), and there is nothing more disheartening to any musician than a bored, unresponsive audience.

And there are people that say that Itzy's gotten to the age where he's just "phoning it in". I would not blame him for playing on automatic, for this bunch.

No interest in culture whatever in that crowd.

Typical Texas oil money -- no class, no education, but sometimes will throw large amounts of money at the symphony or the museum.

Probably gleaning for material for her next soft porn novel. bush looks like he's had too much to drink and would rather be A) not there or B) sitting with contradicta. So much for objective reporting.

So much for accurate journalism.

So much for honesty.

So much for all the pseudo tough questions he's asked, no doubt approved in advance by KKKarl.

Helen Thomas and Keith Olbermann seem to be the only consistently accurate top journalists still left.

This event wasn't for Republicans only. Just because he can be around them doesn't mean he agrees with what they are doing. If that's the case where were the Fox people or any of the radio hosts. None of them were there. I think that's more telling than David Gregory's attendance.

Even Keith Olbermann said that he is personal friends with Tony Snow and they frequently email each other.

They ran the sketch for the dress in the WaPo a couple of days ago and it was lovely. But the sketch showed someone more typically 'model-ish' in figure. If there had been a sash or a contrasting bodice, maybe it wouldn't have looked so dumpy.

50. Mnay royals wear strapless dresses. QEII did many times in her younger years.
Queen Silvia of Sweden and Queen Sonja of Norway both wear strapless dresses on ocassion. I think that the dress is super. She could have added a capelet, a stole or a pashima wrap to be taken off after srrival and seating.

I have to say that Ms. Rice has a very nice figure. I know that she works out regularly. It shows.

giving up Captain Peter Townsend, the man she loved, when the royal family frowned on her relationship with a man who was divorced.

I was never a fan of the royals generally but I thought Margaret had a lot of class.

71. You're welcome. Yes, she loved Capt. Townsend but couldn't marry him. Sad.

110. Do you remember a pic of Elizabeth and Margaret as little girls in or beside a pony cart,
with grandmama close by? I remember a shot like that being in LIFE magazine a million years ago. More or less. I have really enjoyed the photos you've posted, thank you so much.

I hate them all. They prance around like they're at the freaking OSCARS while kids are getting their limbs blown off in Iraq. It's disgusting.

45. Absolutely!
Should they even be spending money on something like this? Aren't we at war? They don't have any problems taking money away from social programs to foot the bill for the war, but apparently, there's plenty of money for a 'gala.' How is there money for this, but not for hunger, vets, etc? That's what really pisses me off! They probably paid for that with money borrowed from China!

Ok, rant off.

104. not appropriate
They might as well have given them mcdonald napkins. Could it have hurt them to fold the napkins into a shape? You're right about the table. Dead on. Plus that candlestick and flowers arrangement prevents people from seeing one another.Big mistake. For all the money they have, they have no sense of elegance. Jackie Kennedy, whatever you may think of her, would be spinning in her grave over the clothing and everything else, especially Pickles' 'gown'

Bush looks like he knows he doesn't belong there. Hell, he doesn't belong anywhere. Let's hope more people wake up to that.

Lynne cheney needs to be arrested by the fashion police.

Check out the last photo - Lynne Cheney looks asleep and Bush is all pissy because he can't be blowing things up with his PlayStation.

Typical GOP response to culture - far too intellectual for these 'down home' types.

Edited on Tue May-08-07 02:03 PM by LibDemAlways
Monica Lewinsky? Am I the only one who sees a resemblance?

And where did Condi go to find a date? I can't imagine there are too many black guys looking for love on neocon match.com.

I'll bet at the end of the evening the Queen and Prince Phillip couldn't wait to take a good long soak and wash off all the evil they'd been exposed to. Everyone looks miserable in that last photo - except Lynne Cheney. She's wondering how she can lift the Prince's wristwatch.
