CNN is spinning the National Guard story - - It's all the Governor's fault.
Edited on Tue May-08-07 04:27 PM by spanone
CNN said they contacted the gov.'s people and they had no response. (?)

So we just get the White Houses' side.

Fran Townsend on speaking for the White House calling the Governor a liar.

God I hate these people.

1. CNN can spin away
The people already know the truth. Bush has seized the national guard from governors and he and his Rethugs will pay dearly.

with the head of the KS National Guard.

10. Time to check some more Bush admin. emails.
If I recall correctly, the Bush admin. had purposely pushed blaming Louisiana gov't officials for Katrina to try and push the Dems out of office there.

Has he even visited the State yet?

He was in (Republican) Alabama the very next day. Never even visited Arkansas during our heavy tornado damage.

22. rescue efforts involving "other" tornados
The operative word being "other". Was the National Guard needed for rescue efforts on this one? Yes. Were they short equipment that they needed? Yes. Did the Governor ask for that equipment to be replaced a year ago? Yes. And she didn't just make a request through standard channels, she asked Bush personally when she was getting her Guard back up to snuff. The point here is we are using so many resources in Iraq that we are not equipped to deal with a huge scale disaster at home. This was not a huge scale disaster. Welcome to DU Einstein.

24. Where are you in Kansas?
I am a Kansan and it's not okay with me that OUR National Guard and its resources are in Iraq. It's also not okay with me that so many of our Kansans have been sent to Iraq and it's not okay with me that they are dying over there either.

I applaud Kathleen Sebelius. She is showing the whole country why she is the third most popular governor in the USA.

There are a LOT of DUers in Kansas. Like me. We have meetups all the time. Maybe if you aren't busy typing stupid messages on progressive message boards and if your bush fan club isn't meeting at the same time, you could come to our meetups. We have one in Lawrence this weekend. Or is Lawrence too "librul" for ya?

Enjoy your brief stay here at DU :hi:

26. Hey idiot. General of the National Guard of KS agrees with the Gov.
Edited on Tue May-08-07 08:14 PM by Lex
I guess he doesn't know what he's talking about either, eh?

Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the state‘s adjutant general, said the Kansas National Guard was equipped to about 40 percent of its necessary levels, down from the 60 percent it had at the start of the war. About 850 soldiers have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan .

Bunting said Kansas would be asking National Guard units in other states to send specialized soldiers and equipment to help with the recovery."

28. what will it take for these Bushbots to get it?
So far, this has been one of the most active tornado season in years.

What's going to happen if central Kansas gets hit with a swarm of F2-F3's? Are you, Mr. Republican, satisfied to be buried under rubble until you die because there isn't enough equipment or personnel to dig your dumb ass out? Who in the hell do you expect to save you?

It's amazing to me how the risk is so clear - and this is life and death shit, not just for them but for their families - yet these shitheads just keep defending Bush I guess to the grave!

And yeah, dumbass, I live in Kansas too and I have the brains to be angry about the stripping of our Guard - because I know they might be instrumental in saving my life someday.

31. yeah, dumbass
You do know that every piece of emergency equipment in Greensburg was destroyed by the tornado? And that there wasn't very much 'near by' except for the few aging, decrepit National Guard heavy vehicles?

Multiply this by three or four Greensburgs and you've got a situation that's going to be deadly for the people buried underneath the rubble.

Did you graduate from fifth grade? You sound either very young or a middle aged, unsuccessful-in-life functional illiterate.

20. So is the local FAUX station in Kansas City
They just featured a blonde news pixie reporting from Greensburg, and she recapped what Sebelius said about the Kansas Guard - then she waggled her finger at the camera, looked gleeful, and said that the White House said, "all she had to do was ask for the equipment" - a total misstatement of the facts, not that this ever deters them.

Made me want to vomit.
