As a graduation present, my 6th grader, who hopes to one day be a marine biologist, chose to have me make a donation of help rescue manatees from the oily waters caused by the BP/Halliburton/Transocean oil disaster. After making the donation, I started wondering why our government isn't forcing BP et al to pay for this and other conservation projects meant to save as many species as possible from the mess they made.
Anyway since it hasn't happened yet and time is in the essence, please consider helping this organization in their efforts:
Sea to Shore Mission
Sea to Shore Alliance was created to form a partnership of specialists and stakeholders with the expertise, passion, and vision to help reverse the degradation of our aquatic coastal environment, loss of species and diversity. The outcome is to better ensure the health and productivity of coastal ecosystems not only for the animal species that live there, but also the humans that depend on them for their health, recreation and livelihoods.
