Let Me Tell You About Myself
Let Me Tell You About Myself

I will tell you I am a Hispanic female, lesbian, I have had an abortion before I realized I was free to love whomever I wanted. I was raised in a religious family but now I am an atheist. I am a progressive democrat, I believe taxes should be raised on anyone making $250,000 or more. I believe government should pass laws to protect me from corporations. I believe in a government to do things that I can not do on my own.

Do you hate me yet?? Need more??

I believe in a school system that pays their teachers a honest salary, not based on numbers that are pulled out of the air. I do not believe in wars fought for oil or any minerals. I believe that everyone should be tried for the crimes they commit. From the president on down. That is only fair to everybody in this country.

Hate me yet?? Need more??

I believe in free speech. With that freedom comes responsibility on the person exercising that freedom. If you get on the airwaves and promote your beliefs that is fine, but you better be able to back that up with facts if called out on it. There is no hiding behind a spokesperson, not taking calls, hiding your email address, not answering your mail. No hiding after you come out. If you want to hide then keep your beliefs to yourself.

Hate me yet?? Need more??

I believe government should help the people in this country that are having trouble with life, for whatever reason. Don't do it for them but help them to get on their feet. I believe everyone should be able to believe whatever they wish to believe, If those beliefs harm someone then they need to rethink their beliefs. I believe that everyone is different than anyone else. I believe that everyone is equal, even though you may not understand them or care for them.

Hate me yet?? Need more??

I think this is enough for you to hate me for now. I sometimes wonder how I make it through my day with all the people with sticks, stones , and guns that hate me. This country is so filled with hate I wonder how everyone gets through their days. This hate comes from the president on down. Our leaders have promoted and allowed for the hate to grow in this country for years and have done nothing to stop it, in fact they have thrown more onto the fire.

They will tell you they are doing everything they can, but those are lies. For the most part their biggest concern is how to get elected again, how to protect themselves, how to fill their pockets with ill gotten gains, and how to protect the party they associate with. They play their games and think they are really doing something..

I am tired of all the hate, I am tired of all the fear, I am tired of all the games. I want my country back, I want it back now. I am tired of people telling me I have to believe as they do. If you want me to believe then you better have something besides your beliefs to convince me. If not, then you better get out of my way because I am done with you. I am tired of all these people that every other word out of their mouths is god this or god that. They would not know god if he tapped them on the shoulder and asked them for some help.

It is time to get angry, it is time to push back, it is time to get our country back.

King of Light

1. No hate here, K & R.
Edited on Sat Jun-12-10 09:23 PM by NYC_SKP
Except for the part about the hatred coming from the president on down...

:loveya:

I agree with every single thing you said, but short of a revolution we're going to have to use the system we have to get the things we deserve.

I don't think Obama, Wiener, Grayson, Sanders, Boxer, et al, hate us.

Except for that detail...

Recommended.

5. I did not mean the president or everyone hates us
What I see is no one is doing anything to stop the hate.
You can feel the hate build from month to month.
You can almost taste it.
It almost seems that both parties want to fuel the hate for some reason.
Hate to me comes from people having fears. Others point them into
a direction to blame for their fears, they can not get rid of the fears so
it turns into hate.

10. Thanks.
A couple things...

And I think I know what you mean, it seems that politics is wrapped in fear and hate, sometimes it's righteous but it's still fear and hate.

Some days it's a struggle to see the good that's out there, whatever "there" we're talking about.

I look at my city, I see poverty and litter and a crumbling infrastructure.

Other times I see a child in a stroller and a happy mom or sibling.

But sometimes the darkness overwhelms the light.

I hope you never lose sight of the human spirit and it's capacity to overcome, more than how it can be overcome by fear and hatred.

Stay strong.

42. Maybe if you
included universal health care, and a progressive tax increase on people making over $250,000 (billionaires paying much more), then you would certainly get more hate...not from me.

43. there is someone doing something about the hate.
http://www.wopg.org

it starts, of course, with each person. my responsibility first and foremost is to clean up my own act. that's not a small task. but the ripples of one person doing that are remarkably, even surprisingly, far-reaching.

47. It's all slight of hand
It's all a big game meant to keep us (the American People) so distracted on hating each other and the "furreners" so they can pursue their true agenda while no one is looking:

parting us, the American people, from as much of our money as possible and ensuring their own futures as rich politicians who don't actually have to work for a living.

They do nothing to stop the hate because it's helping them achieve their goals. Now, there are notable exceptions to this (Rep. Kucinich, Rep. Grayson, Sen. Sanders, Sen. Franken, etc) but they are few and far between and they are constantly and consistently marginalized by those in power and in the media (whom are lackeys for those really in power).

55. It is building because we are not recognizing where it is coming from.
Edited on Sun Jun-13-10 04:51 PM by Go2Peace
We inadvertantly have accepted many of the premises that come from hate and yes, it is coming from Democratic Leadership too. That does not make them bad guys, but it does mean that we need to get people into office that understand the deeper nature of the struggle.

Supra-competition, like racism, begets hate. Materialism as an economy, and productivity, as a measure of worth, both lead to repression and inhumane societies. We have a "kinder gentler" vision, but we still encorporate ideologies that are part of the path that has led us where we are. We still have a lot of changing to do, in the interim the march continues forward to a brave new and uncompassionate future.

But then why, for the love of all that's holy, did he hire a cabinet almost entirely composed of those who DO?

I don't want to divert the thread here, because I also agree with the OP on damn near everything. But I believe it's a valid question.

20. Hate is a term of art, and nothing more
What comes from Obama is a bigoted views toward millions, whom he claims should not have equal rights, because his kind is 'Sanctified by God' and these others, well, they are not. What is the term? Contempt? It is certainly not unlike hate, it sure is not love.

23. You are correct
If you look it was written by King of Light

It was not written to deceive, it was written to show the people that are discriminated
within this country at this time.

It was written for the gays and lesbians, it was for the females of this country that are
thought of as less than men. It was for woman that have to make hard decisions
about procreation. It was written for the people of color that are thought of
less than whites. Part of it was written from my heart.

If people felt deceived then I am sorry. That was not my intent.

President Obama is the object of much hatred, but I don't think he intentionally promotes hate.

Other than that I agree whole-heartedly with your post, except perhaps one thing:
The country that you say you "want back" has never existed, but it is certainly something we should all strive for.

One word of advice:
There are a lot of reasons to be angry, but don't ever let your anger turn into hate.

A parting gift:
This speech given by Bobby after Martin was assassinated is more relevant today than ever:

I once left the US to go live in Europe, right after Watergate and the winding down of Vietnam. I never thought I'd see our country in worse shape than those times, but look how wrong I was. Now I'm back, and I wouldn't even consider leaving again--people like us have to stay and fight for what the Constitution says we're entitled to. I know it's hard, I know it gets tiresome, but we can never stop or become complacent.

I'm just glad I have people like you on the same side, AD!!!!

I believe the President Obama is stopping the cycle of hate by being who is is. Calm and not over-reactive to all of the attacks that have come his way. They want him to be the "Angry Black Man", and he has not fullfilled their wishes. He could be angry and bitter but he has chosen not to display those emotions.

Everything else you said describes my feelings too. The other side hates us all for these feelings. They don't care about this country or anyone else.

51. Dear Angry Dragon, King of Light, we are on the same page!
You sound like my kind of people!

If we have to be hateful screaming spittin' mad and threatening, I can't play that.

I like reason and proof and checks and balances. Irrationality makes me nervous.

I saw a lesbian on TV (PBS) talk about canvasing her community to vote for gay marriage.
What was refreshing was that she said a lot of people chatted and got to know her and

CHANGED THEIR MINDS!!

IMHO, people are DONE with teabag fake-fury.

They want to get united to fight the fucking
under water Krakatau of oil.

It must be hard on the hate machine to twist the oil leak into something political.

The whole, "we want Obama to fail." mentality, is logically moot.
For Obama to fail, means the oil companies win, not tea-baggers.

At this point, wanting to see Obama fail is like wanting all the Gulf way of life to die.
