KC Man's Offer To Help Gulf Region Declined
Rescue Groups, BP Unwilling To Take Donations
KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
A local man's efforts to help battle the oil disaster in the Gulf region are being rebuffed.
Ted Heater said he got the idea to collect Dawn dishwashing liquid to send to the Gulf because it is what rescuers use to wash oil coated animals.
Heater owns a car dealership and people have been dropping off their donations. Other business owners he knows throughout the country are trying to help as well. But Heater ran into a roadblock. Rescue groups and BP are not willing to take the donations.
KMBC's Maria Antonia called BP and received the same response: It is not taking any donations.

Why would they do this? For the tax write off of the loss? I just can't freaking figure out what is going on here. It doesn't benefit anyone for the gulf to be damaged, does it?
