Immigration To China
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 12:08 AM by discocrisco01
Some people are real desperate for jobs. Even if it means leaving for China

"Youth unemployment is so high in the UK that thousands of new graduates are considering going abroad to find work rather than join the dole queue.

Hundreds have already headed to countries like China and India to gain more skills which enhance their CVs.

Graduates are trying to join the toughest employment market in 15 years.

In March, 941,000 people aged between 16 and 24 were out of work - 18,000 more than in December.

The UK already has the second highest youth unemployment in Europe - only Spain has more - and that number could rise even higher in today's unemployment figures. It all means that the UK could lose more graduates and the skills they have gained.Hannah Cobbett has already worked in China and is now fluent in Mandarin. She is convinced that helped her get a job as an international lawyer."When people are going though thousands of CVs and they see someone can speak fluent Chinese and has survived in another foreign culture and has learnt to do that on their own, it sets them apart," she told Sky News.

Edward Holroyd Pearce works with young people heading off to China.

He told Sky News that graduates come to them trying to gain global experience. "It's that confidence of being able to function in an international workplace, some travel experience and often they want to learn another language and broaden their skills," he said

I wonder if this is the failure of current trade policies and trade policies need to be rethought.
