Please Contact your Senators and tell them to Support the Energy and Climate Change Bill!!!
Goddammit! Diane Feinstein and Rockefeller are on the fence!

Just got a call that connected me to her office to leave a message, which I did.

"...Only a few months remain before members of Congress return to their districts to campaign for mid-term elections in which Democratic majorities in both Houses are expected to shrink significantly.

“I doubt very much whether those 60 votes exist right now,” Senator Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), chairman of the Senate Budget Committee said in an interview on Tuesday.

Other senior Democrats, including Senators Dianne Feinstein and Jay Rockefeller, complained this week about the potential politic fallout from voting for a bill to cap greenhouse gas emissions during an election year in which the US economy remains fragile..."

1. Definitely
recommended!

This is very important, and exactly the type of action that all DUers should be doing.

2. I guess it takes some courage and imagination to figure out ways to overcome ...
...this public opinion problem they cite.

They can't possibly be missing the fact that action sooner will save jobs and improve the economy in the long run, can they?

Thanks for the rec.

4. Unless there is
significant and coordinated pressure from all grass roots democrats and our friends to the left, it isn't going to happen. This is an issue that we should all be in general agreement on. The more pressure we put on, the better the results. The current crisis will make the general public more supportive of this. We need to strike while the iron is hot.

5. Thanks, Scurrilous. To think that this legislation could prevent future BP-esque disasters...
Yet few people seem to know or care.
