and towed to the UK..and then left there for BP to deal with, not left in plastic bags hauled to landfills:grr:

I know they are "saying" the oil mess is being disposed of correctly, but has anything "they" told us been true?

Sure, oil is "natural" and will eventually "degrade", but in the intervening DECADES, it pollutes and kills..

It's also a bit disingenuous to see wildlife advocates on tv saying that the dead animals would have necropsies done, to "see if the oil was responsible for their deaths"..that's one for the DUH files, and probably wastes a lot of money & time that should be going elsewhere. Does anyone in their right mind think that the poor little dolphin would be dead today if not for the oil? It reminds me of the Japanese excuse about "whale research"..

1. Sounds good...however, some of BP's customers may bear responsibility....

...and BP's Number One customer is the American Military Machine.

2. For what it's worth
I work for a large environmental engineering firm just contracted to design one or more sand berms, and to assemble nine 6 person management teams (1 for each LA Parish) to facilitate the cleanup. The teams will be made up of marine biologists, hydraulic engineers, scientists specializing in using micro-organisms to accelerate the natural breakdown of oils and sludges.

So, for what it's worth, BP is getting ready to spend the big bucks to get the cleanup better coordinated.

6. They are probably spending bigger bucks
spreading poison around in the form of corexit. That on top of the oil can be doing no good for any life in the gulf.

7. I agree
That crap is applied to breakup a huge surfaced black blob into smaller slicks at many depths poisoning everything. Strictly a PR move, and not in the interest of making it easier to cleanup or safer for critters and their habitats. The big black blobs on the surface could have been semi-contained, sucked up, and then mechanically absorbed. Instead they opted to break it up so it won't "look so bad" on the news each day.
