In Saint Paul, MN, it's raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock.
And this is just the first wave.

And I just did some exterior house painting this morning. Uff da! Well, we'll see what happens.

The weather's much worse in other parts of Minnesota. Keep a good thought for us.

2. Nah, it's common wherever there are dairies.
I worked in one in California while I was in high school. Got pissed on many times.

5. The good thing about western washington
is if you step outside the barn on most days of the year, the cow piss washes right off.

8. Well, it had over 6 hours to dry, so it should be OK, I think.
It's acrylic latex paint. Pretty sturdy once it's dry. It should be clear tomorrow, so I'll be able to finish up, I hope. I just did the cutting in and detail painting today.

11. And that's not the half of it. Wait 'til he experiences his first
-20 degree days. What fun! I moved here from CA, too, so it was an eye-opener.

The rain has slowed down for now, and the sirens haven't sounded. so we're good so far.

9. Good luck.
We've had two major storms here in Chicago in the past week. Last Friday at about 3:30 pm and on Wednesday of this week about 6:00 pm. There was major flooding and a lot of damage done in both of them. I haven't seen it rain as hard as it was during those storms in my 56 years on the planet. The tornado sirens even went off in downtown Chicago and out here in the burbs where I live, but no tornadoes touched down.

size. Good thing my boat is in the garage. Bad luck for the cars in the driveway, I think.

16. It's Minnesota. It's a thunderstorm. So far, so good. Just a lot of
rain. My radio, though, is crackling with lightning static. The power's still on, so that's good. Severe storm warnings until Midnight, though. Ish da!

18. Just looked at the radar map
you guys are in for it, and it looks like my old home place up near Brainerd is getting whacked pretty good again, too. I'll hear from my sister soon for a run down on both, I'm sure. Dunder and blitzit.

20. Donder und Blitzen, indeed.
I love weather...except for tornadoes. Rain? Feh! Lightning? Well, lightning struck my house in CA, and burned out all the wiring and destroyed everything electrical, so that's not so good. Snow, ice, whatever. I'm used to it now.

22. I was in a couple of pretty good tornadoes back in the day.
and mostly I thought storms were more exciting than scary. Of course I was just a kid then. I tried moving back in 2000, but couldn't find a place to rent where I could keep my German Shepherd. Now, though, I think my bones might resent the hell out of -60 windchills.

23. Yes, it's scary here
The storm seems right overhead from the timing of the thunder and lightening. A mile per second? if I remember the rubric correctly.

I'm cooking (and posting)in the dark...kind of pointless since I'm using an electric stove. Still, I fell safer with the lights out.

25. I think sound travels about 770 fps in air.
That would be about 1 mile in 7 seconds.

I'm 90 miles due east of you, and the sky is very black in the west. I guess we're next for whatever is hitting you.

26. Thanks for that info.
The storm is gone...in retrospect, it doesn't seem so bad. The winds weren't particularly strong.

Hoping there's no damage where you live.

Some parts of our South Coast are under water. For the rest of the island it has been well needed.
