Republican candidate for Roy Blunt's seat calls those on public assistance "life-long parasites"

A Missouri state Representative (MO - District 127), whose wife is under federal investigation for fraud against the disabled, had the following to say about his plans to cut spending if he were to get elected to Roy Blunt's old seat:

"I would eliminate welfare and change it to work-fare. I would set up commodity stations to pick up food. I would eliminate all electronic cards that are used to get cash to gamble, obtain alcohol or any luxuries. The Bible tells us as a society to help widowed, orphaned and the elderly. It doesn’t tell us to create a dependent society of life-long parasites. If you don’t work, you don’t eat."

I thought the Bible said something about helping the poor... I must have imagined it.

7. So, Jesus becomes a Fuhrer?
A despot? A republican shill?

I may have missed the memo:

(A parody)

Hey, this is Jesus, Savior Elect and Official Religious Icon for U.S.A. Inc.,

We have some lazy asses taken advantage of my teachings and you know what Paul had to say about the lazy, proto-hippies in the fold! As of today, the word suffer will mean "to suffer" and so suffer those biatches unto me -- no pay no play. No pain, no gain as I proved.

The Republicans are now the Chosen, so deal with it, dogs. Even Divine Saviors and Sons of God can change their minds. I mean, it has been 2K years since I gave you the skinny. I don't know why Dad made parasites, but I never really liked the idea. My Chosen Ones are officially off the hook when it comes to all that charity, feeding the poor, healing the sick nonsense. That was then, this is now. Hey, we didn't have supermarkets or a free market and trade back in the Roman days, you know.

So, while my righteous elected disciples work their holy tails off to do my bidding, the rest of you have to stop feeding and enabling all these useless eaters, the sick, orphans, all that stuff I said when I was just getting my feet wet in the Messiah business and I was in a deluded, liberal fog of some kind. The stress back then was making me sound like a communist, I know. As you know, I have moved-up the hierarchy after my promotion and we are going to run this Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, Inc., my way. That means fiscal responsibility is next to Godliness and the bottom line is that the downtrodden can just go to Heaven or Hell quickly. That is simple and cost-effective!

Don't knock the media, either, I have an omnipotent stash of shares in that industry and they are obviously speaking my truth. Now, you have the memo. The rest of you can go to ...

Capitalism is Dad's favorite, BTW.

Hosanna! And Praise...ah...Me!
Lord and Savior

10. So the orphans and elderly will be forced to work?
That is what he is saying. And those with disabilities? I guess if you can't work, you are not fit to live. Another useless eater. Dickens couldn't have written him better.

I'm an atheist and I have more compassion than this so-called Christian.

11. Well, sounds like he's talking about capitalists to me.

They do not work but get fabulously rich off the labor of others. They benefit from government programs yet pay little taxes. And indeed they are lifelong parasites of our society.

By god he's right, no more of that shit, the Bible said so.

20. In fact, that's what the Bible quote refers to.
It's one of Paul's letters, and it refers to people who felt they were too "holy" to work, if I remember correctly.
