I wanted to do an OP to salute some special DUers

So I'll just post this, and if the salute fits, wear it.

And, come to think of it, there are a HELL of a lot of our fellow members who make a meaningful contribution here, on ALL sides of the issues that concern us.

So I guess I'm pretty much left with saluting all of us. Kind of anticlimactic, and not as dramatic as I'd hoped.

P'rolly won't get those recs I wanted, and won't make that "Greatest" page I rarely look at. *sigh*

Ah, well. You all are still the best (even if there are too many of you to list all of your your usernames).

But seriously, for news and a good political discussion, where the hell else can you go?

I see I'm being kidded about making a "unicorns and rainbows" post (not that anyone has used the language I put in quotes).

I don't mind. My whole approach at DU tends to be gentle and explanatory, rather than confrontational. I assume good intentions and good faith in others, and most of the time that's justified. On the few exceptional cases, I kick myself for not going nasty on somebody's ass, lol. But the exceptions are rare, and for the most part the disagreements are sincere. So it's possible to respect even those who take an opposing view.

You've been here a long time and you've seen it all, yet you continue to be known and loved for your sweetness. Perhaps your example is informing and influencing others of us here. No promises that I won't get NASTY on you, though, as hard as you may make it to do that. :)
