Yesterday I posted how the Az Chamber of Commerce wants to get their filthy hands into the Az State retirement

Here is the link - there were only the comments that appeared but there is an article

Here is the Az Chamber of Commmerce Board of Directors.

I hope you can read it.

1. My firm did this to me and most private firms are going this way also.

I think our state already did this. I know there is an old system and a new system where the old system was the better one. Our state did much worse to our employees. For years they took all the gains over 8% and threw it into the general budget. How wrong is that?

On edit: okay I took a look and apparently the old system was non contributory and the new system is contributory but it still looks like a pension plan. And since I'm not a state employee I'm not familiar with the new system. I know people on the old system though and it is a wonderful thing. They even pay the retirees a rebate for the amount that gets deducted for Medicare! How amazing is that? So fully paid private health insurance for the employee and their spouse plus reimbursement for Medicare. The double coverage means hardly any out of pocket costs even for extended hospital stays. Amazing benefits. I don't think the health benefit works the same for the new system. I'm pretty sure spouses aren't covered.

8. Hawaii.
I've got to say though our safety net is a lot better than most. Our Medicaid is qualified on earnings whereas many other states need special qualifications.
