Kentucky DUers
Ok so this east coast girl will be working in Kentucky until November (on Jack Conway's campaign).

I drive out there this week and need a few words of advice for any DUers who live in the area.
1) Am I safe with liberal bumper stickers on my car or should I take them off?
2) What is the weather like and what kind of clothes should I pack?
3) What kind of food is served out there and how can I maintain my weight on the campaign trail?

And any Kentucky DUers, we need all hands on deck to kick Rand Paul's ass!

2. Welcome to Kentucky...
1. You are safe here with liberal bumper stickers...even in the more conservative areas. In Lexington and Louisville, not even an issue. Can I assure an occasional idiot might not say something, no. However, that can happen anywhere.

2. Hot...it will be quite warm in August and Sept; occasional cool or even chilly day in late September and October (it has snowed on Halloween). Right now...summer clothes. Be prepared with a good jacket and layer for the cool mornings that can quickly become quite hot. The fall days here can be crisp, the sky a cornflower blue, simply beautiful.

3. Uh..contrary to popular belief, we eat what everyone else does. We have all the fast food you want, excellent restaurants all over the state, great BBQ in western KY and some of the small town diners are terrific. Good plain food. The state is known for its "Southern cuisine"...country ham, cheese grits, trust me, great food. But you can get anything here.

However, there are also lots of deli's, we even have a Whole Foods and a Fresh Market in Lexington, plus a great farmers'co-op that serves fresh quality food. As for maintaining your weight...good luck...I've worked way too many campaigns...never figured that out.

Where will you be? In Louisville at the main campaign office? While you're there...see if you can get me on the volunteer list...I've been trying since November to volunteer. They actually called me to tell me that an office would be opening in Lexington...but didn't know when, where, or who running it. I have extremely strong experience in campaigns...they don't seem to care. Conway is going to need the Democrats in Lexington.

PM me if you like, I will be more than happy to help you in any way. Glad you are going to be working for Jack...
