As the rhetoric gets wound up for the week's news cycles, there is no doubt that ........
..... a race-baited repubican script underlies the whole damned thing.

"Black Caucus"

"Trials"

The Obama "end his career with dignity" quote

Mentions of Ensign and McConnell and others as a way of showing "fair and balanced" reportage, followed by quick refocus back to the black folks.

Pay attention to how this whole fucking this is played, whether on right wing hate radio, in the crazy churches, on Fox, the networks, and even (especially) MSNBC. I don't give a shit if you think Rangel and Waters are the Twin Spawns Of Satan, there is NOTHING here to help the Dems. Not one fucking thing.

Here's an issue where EVERY person who considers themselves a REAL Democrat right here in DU can come together. You don't need to defend or vilify Rangel and Waters. They're actually pawns in this. This is about a full court press from the media and their repubican OWNERS/PARTNERS to win the upcoming midterms. If you wish to win the midterms, you really need to be opposed to this WELL TIMED attack on two black Democrats.

To attack these two is to attack all of us.

If you want a real enemy, we got one: "THEM"

1. Andrea Greenspan is pushing this
to the hilt. Racism in Congressional ethics probes.

2. The whole vocabulary is focused on making this as bad as possible. Did she use the word "trial"?
There is no fucking "trial" The term has NEVER been used in a House ethics beef. Trials happen in civil court, criminal court and, on very rare occasion, the Senate.

But the word "trial" has been used here against the black folks. Why? Cuz its a charged word. If the dog whistle isn't heard, it still makes things sound more evil than they are.

Mother

Fuckers

3. I'm not sure if she used the word 'trial' as I as still steaming from her
mention of the sorry state of the economy without mentioning that her husband caused it.

4. This entire situation sucks
Clearly I see the problem--I see the witch hunt. But violations are violations.

I think that the proper thing to do is not to necessarily defend these two against legitimate charges, but rather, spearhead a movement to get rid of EVERYONE who is engaging in unethical behavior (as well as expose the specific hypocrisy and selective enforcement for political gain).

I often think everyone there is corrupt going in, or corrupted shortly thereafter. While given wiggle room, if you do not capitulate on major measures, you will be extorted or ejected. Just a theory.

5. The Congressional Black Caucus is a real thing
I'm not sure what you mean by putting it in scare quotes.

6. The quotes are referring to the words the media are using.
"Trial" was al;so in quotes, as was refernce to Obama's quotee.

I'm sure you actually knew that, but there's the explanation in case you really didn't.

There is much mention of the Black Caucus. The implication is their members are involved. The implication of that is that black people are dirty. The implication of that is .......

Hopefully you can see where they're going.

7. Well, okay, but what are you suggesting?
That no mention should be made of the fact that these Congressman are members of the CBC? I draw the line at suppressing information simply because it might lead to uncomfortable implications. The problem is in the mind of the implier, not the reporter of facts.

9. I'm all for reporting the facts...
Such as the fact that Maxine Waters has stated that she disclosed AT THE TIME her husband's connection with the bank she was trying to help. I've yet to hear this mentioned in any news other than a tidbit on Stephanie Miller's show. All this bullshit about how Obama was too quick to act on the Sherrod episode, deflecting from Brietbart's lack of honesty and the media tools' lack of due diligence on the matter, now all of a sudden we're supposed to jump all over Waters before her statements are either justified or debunked? I call bullshit. There's a huge difference between suppressing information and not giving the whole story. The reporter of facts needs to have real facts, and ALL of the facts or leave the story alone.
