1. If they do
It will be political suicide! They need to draw the line so those making over say $250,000 lose their tax breaks and those under that keep it. They already have a plan, at least the president does, and if congress is to chicken to force the republicans to either back the breaks for the middle class, but let the breaks for the rich end, then they will be in big trouble. They can use this to their own advantage. If republicans refuse to vote for leave the breaks on those under $250,000 it would be their down fall! If they fight it and force "ALL" tax cuts to expire, the democrats can use this to prove once and for all just who's side they are on.

2. The rich are desperately & greedily trying to hold on to their unfair defict raising tax cuts.
Edited on Mon Aug-02-10 04:22 PM by GreenTea
Even republican soul brother Alan Greenspan knows the tax cuts for the rich will only increase the deficit....But that's all the republicans care about is giving the rich & their corporations as much as possible using our tax dollars, workers, middle class & small businesses to give the rich even more - Now the republicans will trash one of their own - Greenspan for telling the truth - Anything to get the morons to vote republican as Fox news & Limbaugh pound away with the same republican lies...

The only thing the rich do with their tax cuts is sit on the money - put it in off-shore accounts, invest in markets over seas, & buy another Yachts and home somewhere around the world....They are NOT going to invest it in the U.S. though corporations are making huge profits now on cheap labor...but they rich & corporations don't want to invest and help the Democrats out...they'll wait so they can even more deregulation to cheat steal, collude and outsource manufacturing jobs overseas - Greenspan and every intelligent person can see this as clear as can be!

3. The really important (to him) stuff was what Bush did FIRST
Edited on Mon Aug-02-10 04:22 PM by SoCalDem
911 was a perfect opportunity to start two wars...destined to scuttle the next president's term

and the tax cuts for rich would definitely be portrayed as an INCREASE when they expired.

The tax cut is so easy to explain, I am annoyed that our leaders are not doing it..

Just change the wording..

If your boss says "I've got to cut your pay by 20% for 2 years", and you accept it, when the two years are up, and your pay goes back to "normal", did you get a 20% RAISE??? or did you just get "restored" to a 2-yr-ago pay rate?

The drop-off of the tax-slash for rich folks is NOT a tax INCREASE, it's just the end of their 10 yr free-ride..
