Sharks being massacred at alarming rates.
During Animal Planet's Shark Week, this is terribly depressing.

"THEIR bodies rotting on the floor of a Japanese dock, hundreds of sharks have been slaughtered for just one thing - their fins."

2. What the morons who perpetuate the massacres of sharks and whales don't realize
is that their actions are truly fucking the world, not just the animals. Maybe they are too stupid to realize that THEY are in the world and will be truly fucked along with everything else.

3. They don't get it, MoonRiver.

Or- they don't want to understand this.

It would stop them dead in their tracks.

7. They are highly educated and intelligent people.
They CHOOSE to ignore the reality of their actions. I can offer no excuses or sympathy for them. BOYCOTT BABY!

14. I do too!
We are all Whale Wars fans here.
My family and I went to the SSCS 'Sea No Evil'
art show in Riverside, CA last Saturday.

It was great to meet Captain Watson and many
of the crew members there.

OK- I'm immodesty posting my photo here,

Paul Watson is one hell of a good guy, all around.

20. Has Spielberg ever expressed any regrets for what he started with that movie?
I would personally spend the rest of my life and every last dime trying to educate the world so that these magnificent creatures would be respected and protected.

21. I believe he has.
Don't have a link, but I remember hearing that he was totally horrified about the insane shark killings, resulting from the movie.

24. If he's sincere, he needs to be much more vocal.
Since there is so much we don't know about Great Whites (all sharks, really) we may not have enough time to save them.

5. Honestly, I don't think they care.
The greedy that perpetuate this shit (and mind you, that's not a broadbrush of Japan or China, etc) just don't care. I also don't think they particular care to be told what to do. There are wealthy folks here that will cry a river of tears because they have to buy their ivory billiard balls on the black market.

10. My husband and I are actively boycotting everything from Japan because of whaling.
Of course there will always be hidden parts in products, but any name brand from Japan, Norway, Iceland and Greenland are boycotted. The last three export virtually nothing so they're easy.

4. I was halfway expecting an aphroseciac connection
since that seems to be a common denominator between China/Japan and pointless animal slaughter

6. All for some shark fin soup!
Right- that makes perfect sense!
:sarcasm:

Bio centrism- it matters!

Main Entry: bio·cen·tric
Pronunciation: \-ˈsen-trik\
Function: adjective
Date: circa 1889
: considering all forms of life as having intrinsic value
— bio·cen·trism \-ˌtri-zəm\ noun

( I found the word that describes what I've believed in my entire life)

13. Don't know but they like serving it to you
It's rather expensive and to impress you they like to serve it to you. It is rather not tasty. For a culture with a lot of really yummy food, they could really pass on the shark fin soup IMO.

17. I hate us.
You can't tell me that people don't know what's happening on this planet. The collective willful ignorance is beyond apathy, it's evil.

Humans do seem hell bent toward that end result.

22. Honestly, our fellow earthlings would be better off if humans would end their time on Earth in 2012.
Religions are created by men who use their holy books to justify their actions and control the superstitious. If gods existed I would despise them more than humans.

everything on earth was just fine, until humans arrived.

25. We didn't just make an entrance, we evolved along with other mammals.
I don't know what went wrong, perhaps greed began when man found out he could own things.
