Congressman Calls For Wikileaks Whistleblower To Be Executed
http://www.businessinsider.com/congressman-calls-for-wikileaks-whistleblower-to-be-executed-2010-8

A US Congressman has called for the bloke who leaked secret documents to Wikileaks to be executed.

Congressman Mike Rogers says he supports execution for the soldier involved if he is ultimately found guilty.

This splendid example of humanity is a Republican who sits on the House Intelligence Committee, which must shorely be some mishtake.

Rogers said that Private Bradley Manning appears to be guilty of treason in time of war, which is a capital crime.

1. Methinks Mr. Rogers doesn't know the definition of "treason".
If he did, he'd call for his own execution, and that of most of his own party, the treasonous, traitorous fuckbags.

13. Of course he hasn't. Like everything else righties claim to value...
they actually just use it as a symbol of which they have no true understanding.

It's like the christianity so many of them espouse. They wouldn't know a true christian if one spit in their eyes.

3. I'll say it again ...
... instead of being so worried about 'what was leaked' and that there were leaks, our gov't, media and congress critters ought to be more up in arms about the illegality and immorality of what the hell is GOING ON over there, leaks or no leaks.

5. U.S. Constitution...
Edited on Tue Aug-03-10 11:42 AM by Ozymanithrax
Section 3.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

He certainly could be convicted of mishandling classified material and of giving that material to people who have no clearance to see it. He could be charged with each classified piece of material he turned over, which could lead to an enormous jail sentence if convicted.

But I don't think his act can be stretched to include treason as the Constitution defines it.

And I oppose the death penalty for any reason.

What we need is an investigation, both into the leak and into possible use of the classification system to hide crimes. (Quite technically, you are not allowed to classify something to hide a crime.) If he cooperates fully, give him the same deal they gave John Dean.

7. No wonder Congress is losing respect among Americans. With people like that sitting
in seats in Congress, it is rapidly losing whatever standing and respect it was to have had based on the Constitution.

There are no longer statesmen..there are ignorant, evil, greedy repuke/corporate hacks who do not have an ounce of concern for what is really best for this country or its people.

19. Really, Mike Rogers? Execute? Does that include your ol' pal "Leaky Pete" Hoekstra?

Just dug this up from the ol' memory hole. It seemed like the right thing to do today.

Pete Hoekstra Leaking Secrets Again
by: Richard Allen Smith
Wed Nov 11, 2009 at 16:01:13 PM EST

We already know that Representative Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) has a problem keeping secrets. Unsurprisingly, Hoekstra, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, is at it again. This time, Rep. Hoekstra is leaking details of intelligence monitoring to the press as they relate to a radical cleric with connection to Major Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter.
From Rachel:

MADDOW: Why is it Pete Hoekstra who's taking it upon himself to tell the press that this radical cleric is having his email read by U.S. intelligence agencies? The FBI had not said publicly that this cleric had been emailing Hasan. The CIA, the NSA, the White House - nobody else had reported this cleric was e-mailing Hasan. This is just Pete Hoekstra letting us know - and letting the radical cleric who is under surveillance know - that he's under surveillance.

Marcy Wheeler also has an extensive documentation of Pete Hoekstra's record of mishandling and outright lying when it comes to matters of intelligence and national security. Even though Hoekstra has proven that he cannot be trusted with intelligence, and occasionally makes up his own intelligence to get some press attention, he is still the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee.

If Hoekstra weren't retiring from the House to run for Governor of Michigan, I'd call for his removal from that committee. Come to think of it, maybe there is a connection between that, and him making shit up to get his name in a few papers.

Here's Rachel on "Leaky Pete" Hoekstra:
