Coburn says rich people come to the U.S. to have anchor babies.
"There's the other side of it, that we have a whole new cottage industry that people of great wealth are coming here to have children too," Coburn added, "so that they can create a basis for anchoring themselves to citizenship in this country."

What planet does Coburn live on? If rich people want to become residents of this country all they need to do is come and invest one million dollars (or 500,000 if investing in certain areas) under the EB-5 immigration program. They don't need to have a baby. If people truly have "great wealth" as Coburn suggests, any immigration lawyer worth his diploma is going to steer them in that direction rather that having an anchor baby.

1. They could be coming for the medical treatment
If they come from certain countries, that is.

2. Or maybe some come to dumb down.
And move to Oklahoma to be nearer to Senator Coburn.

4. But I thought all the rich were running away from socialist America to protect their millions.
Do you mean to say that rich people think this country is a good place to further grow their ill-gotten gains?

I think the Senator is confused.

15. Except they are not "people of great wealth" as he says.
They are people who manage to scrape together about $15,000. Big difference between $15,000 and "great wealth."

That's our friend the underwear bomber got his visa.

7. The way this country is now, if I were having kids, I'd go elsewhere...
I would not want my kids to have to live in this sewer.

9. Guess our tax rates aren't too oppressive, after all.
But if Coburn is truly concerned, there's an obvious solution.

10. I know someone like that...
not that it proves any sort of trend, but I admit I was sort of naively shocked by it.

I know a woman who is from a wealthy family in the Philippines - she and all her sisters were born here because her mother deliberately came to the US on vacation to have them here so they would have citizenship. I don't know what her mother's motives were for doing that. The woman I know grew up in the Philippines but was sent to college here and has lived here since.

14. And this is a bad thing why, exactly?
I thought repukes like Coburn adored rich people. Is he worried they're gonna take our Wall Strret jobs away from us?

Or, could it be that he only adores rich white people?

20. It is well known that middle eastern people come here to have their children, bring them back home..
So their children will be able to marry rich people when they grow up.
