Kilpatrick loses House re-election bid
Michigan: Clarke Ousts Kilpatrick
http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/eyeon2010/2010/08/michigan-cheeks-kilpatrick-cla.html

Seven-term Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick lost her primary to state Sen. Hansen Clarke, 48 percent to 41 percent with 55 percent of precincts reporting.

Kilpatrick, a former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, stressed her status as Michigan's only member of the House Appropriations committee. Yet she couldn't overcome the stain from the scandal of her son Kwame Kilpatrick, the former mayor of Detroit who went to jail in 2008.

Clarke, the son of an African-American mother and a Bangladeshi immigrant father, was first elected to the state House in 1990 and the state Senate in 2002. He became better known to Detroit voters when he lost the mayoral race to Kwame Kilpatrick in 2005.
