Keep fighting! We will definitely have peace, prosperity and justice! Here is why I say that:
A great sage named Nichiren said that we will create world peace “as surely as an arrow aimed at the earth will reach its mark.”

Nichiren also said, “When the minds of the people are pure, the land will be pure also."

This worldwide, all-encompassing crisis we are in, as horrible it is, has a very positive purpose. Whether we are aware of it or not, what is in our hearts penetrates the universe. Now, because of all the suffering we see in the world, now is the crucial moment when enough of us will wake up to the fact that the only real way to save our world is to recognize that we are one with our environment, and that we can defeat the darkness on this planet by defeating our own innate darkness.

Yes, it will definitely happen, but I will say here, a crucial element of our victory is the intensive effort of enough people fighting to defeat their own darkness and help others do the same. This effort is already underway, and at some point, I hope in the very near future, we will see the results of these efforts - and we will all be a part of making those results happen.

While my central focus in this regard is my Buddhist practice and the Buddhist world peace organization I belong to, fighting for justice is an essential Buddhist principle. Whatever life philosophy you practice, please! continue to fight for justice! Every effort counts! Even if sometimes it doesn't seem so, our efforts to visit DU, read and post information and our views on what is true and what needs to happen, are indeed powerful. My thanks to all of your for your incredibly valuable efforts. Please! Never give up! Never give in! Keep fighting, and justice will win!

19. "Oh shit!"
Edited on Wed Aug-04-10 02:19 PM by pnorman
But its usage lacks the "offensiveness" that those words would elicit here. In all likelihood, the image of a smoking turd wouldn't even come to mind! It's been quite a while, but I seem to recall hearing it often enough on general programming TV.

On edit: organized religion of any sort has little appeal to me, but it was NOT my intent to jeer at you!

23. Probably good to exercize some discretion when using it.
The "u" is essentially silent here, so it would be pronounced as: "Eh k'so!", with the terminal "o" being drawn out for at least a second or so.

then why not just leave it alone?

I note that you did not follow your own advice.

5. I understand your point of view. I only believe those words because of the results in my own life
As they say, "Seeing is believing." I have a daily practice that I do, chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo to create a happy life for myself and helping others to do the same. I have been able to make some amazing changes in myself and, by extension, in my environment. Nichiren is the one who discovered the practice that I do, and it works.

7. Have you got any kind of a time-line when you think "justice will win"?
Inquiring and impatient minds would like to know.

9. pocoloco, I'm just as inquiring and impatient as you are. Wish I had a time line.
All I know is that it will happen. As I do my daily practice, I feel victory on the way. The efforts of all of us will pay off. Meanwhile, I an enjoying my challenges, enjoying helping other people do this practice and defeat their own suffering, and enjoying the dialogue here on DU as one kind of action I can take for justice.

8. I don't follow any religious practice but I agree with making peace
It isn't about just stopping aggression. It's about actively working at peace. Kucinich is right. Our government needs a Department of Peace, but each of us can work at creating peace in our lives. Starting with our own thoughts.
