My party platform. (Long Post)
So I've decided to make a list of the planks I would like to see in the Democratic party platform and see if anyone here agrees with my views. These are mostly just general views of mine and I haven't worked out the specifics yet but feel free to contribute. And as a side question do these views make me socialist? I consider myself one already but I'm just curious if I'm misinformed.

Health care: I believe in universal Health care for all without private insurers who profit off the sickness of others.

Minimum Wages: I believe that there should be a new type of minimum wage that is based upon the number of people living in your household and that it should guarantee a decent and comfortable lifestyle for the people living in said household.

Corporations: I believe that if a corporation makes over a certain amount in profit that half of that money needs to be redistributed down the ladder all the way to the janitor to provide things such as better wages, and paid vacation time. I also believe that CEOs need to be held accountable to their workers just as much as their stockholders. If the workers feel the CEO is abusing his power and hurting them then they should have the right to fire him and replace him.

Education: I believe the government should provide high quality education to all its citizens from Kindergarten to graduate school if they desire it.

Military: I believe in a strong national defense for the nation and protecting our citizens from foreign threats. However the MIC is not protecting us it has become a threat in and of itself. I believe we should cut military spending by 50% and give up the "empire." I am not advocating for isolationism because I think we need to be active in the global community but we should not try and rule the global community.

Oil and resources: I feel that it we should invest heavily in finding alternative types of energy and would even be in favor of giving some tax breaks to companies that invest heavily in such research if it bears fruit. However until then I propose we create an American Oil to provide cheap efficient fuel for our people. After all they are our resources not the Pilot's.

Media: I think we should reinstate the Fairness doctrine that allows for equal air time of all viewpoints. Also we need to create a national government ran media station similar to the BBC in England to provide unbiased news to the people.

Campaign finance reform: I believe that corporations should not be allowed to provide unlimited funds to politicians. I think that the government should give a certain amount of money to each candidate who can get enough signatures to be on the ballot and then let them run on the strength of their convictions and not their wallets.

Election reform: I think we need to abandon our single member district winner take all system and replace it with Proportional Representation. For instance say in the senate the Dems get 45 percent of the vote and the Republicans get 45% and the Socialists get 10% and the Libertarians get 10% then the new senate should have 45 democrats, 45 republicans,10 socialists and 10 Libertarians.

3. Of course many here
will agree with your views to some extent, you're problem is that the majority of Democrats do not and a platform such as you desire will only push them out of the party.
