1. My guess is: it is not bad news so no hysteria to foment...
no hysteria = no ratings = no increased advertising dollars.

4. Mrs Greenspan's show is one that relies very heavily on
guests and pre-taped reports. I think that's why they rarely break away to anything live, unless it's a crisis.

7. Lol, I meant a new, breaking crisis. I'm not defending her, I don't
even watch her show anymore. But I've noticed that there are several MSNBC hosts that rarely, if ever, have their hours interrupted by live events, at least for extended coverage.

14. 'So called' is right - they are infotainment. They gave us hours of
Balloon Boy but can't carry this presser.

6. For the same reason they refused to carry Obama's speech
at the AFL-CIO meeting today. I had to switch to CNN.
No good news must be reported (even if we're not sure this is the end of the gulf spill) and no pro-union, pro-worker speeches either.

15. Is there entertainment value in unbiased reporting???
Its all about $$ and entertaining the population.
and by entertaining, I mean that which induces an emotional response that, in the end, is pleasurable.
