3. Hoping for the best.
That's about as high as it gets. Will wait and see.

Damn sight better than Bush's nominees, but I don't see a fighter for justice there. Hope I'm wrong.

4. I seem to have misplaced a few fingers.
I wasn't bowled over by her writings on free expression.

7. At least she isn't another Scalia
She lost me when she agreed with the Citizens United v. Federal Election Comm'n decision. Which, in my opinion, was a totally manipulated process.

Sorry, that's all I can muster.

8. I did wonder
Guess Prop 8 took the wind out of her sails. It's also rather quiet re Nancy Pelosi tearing the RETHUGS a new one.

10. I'm quite happy about her.
But this bit of news was just not enough to overcome my general feelings of unhappiness with Obama et al. Even yesterday's news about Prop 8 didn't do much to move my malaise.

11. All the cynics and gloom and doomers have chased away many of the real Democrats

But I'm very happy about Kagan. I think she'll be a great justice.

14. Imperialist.
But hey ... *clap*

At least she will sustain the striking of SB1070 and Prop 8, should the reach the SCOTUS. (I grow weary of the phrase at least" in re: the Obama admin)

15. Getting Elected/Appointed/etc is one thing - follow through is what is important
When we start seeing decisions from her then I will high five (or not) her.

Well, there's little record for celebration and enough of a record to engender anxiety.

21. All in all,
since she is a "moderate" replacing an outspoken Liberal, the court in now more conservative.

Bittersweet.

22. I don't feel the need to high five for middle of the road, moderate nominees
that are to the right of the Justice they replaced. You are free to high five that if you want. I have no idea what kind of a Justice she will be. Now, Scalia, Alito and Roberts on the other hand, I knew exactly what kind of Justice they would be, because, unlike us, the Republicans ram through who they want. We wring our hands, piss our pants and play it ever so safe. No high fives til I see how she votes.
