would you say that people who identify as democrats are
more mild tempered than ones who identify as republicans? It seems that the reason there isn't a democratic equivalent to the tea party is because the tea party in its very nature is made up of people with short fuses, who jump to conclusions, have sudden mood swings and bouts of irrationality. All of the people I have worked at when I've canvassed or caucused tend to be very mellow or chill.

3. Maybe, but I don't fit that mold
I fucking hate the right-wing/conservative ideology (at least the parts that aren't obviously good) and I fucking hate the people that subscribe to it. I'm pissed off and I feel that wave of anger come over me every time a Republican or Tea Partier opens his god damned mouth.

The difference (I hope) is that I present logical and rational arguments in my fits of anger and cursing. The other side may be as proficient at cursing as me, but their positions are illogical and irrational. Fuck 'em.

4. Here is a difference that I see.
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 05:26 PM by county worker
The tea party hears wing nut radio and Faux News and immediately take it on faith that what they heard is the truth.

Dems hear the same thing and know it's bull shit propaganda.

Now this isn't the difference between two opposite political views. It's the difference between lies and the truth. The wing nut media knows what they are saying is bull shit. The Dems know it's bull shit. The tea party dim wits don't know it's bull shit.

5. but the problem is that
Keith Olbermann is stooping to the level of Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck. I know its difficult but people like him need to be careful not to make the same mistakes they did. As democrats we need to be unique and not the same thing the republicans say just upside down.

7. Definitely, though I'd say the "Tea Party" is made up of authoritarian followers.
Check out Bob Altemeyer's The Authoritarians. Altemeyer is an experienced sociologist who's been studying authoritarians for 30-some years, and his description of the mindset is identical to what you see at Tea Party gatherings.

8. Basically
The teabaggers were looking up into bush's eyes.

Bush told them it was raining, while all the time bush was pissing on them.

Now they know the truth and, boy, are they mad.

Of course they can't blame their hero bush, so they lash out at anything that moves.

Those poor people are emotionally scarred. The damned idiots.

9. Democrats vent aBUT they do not cause trouble, flame or slur
people or tell outrageous lies. Maybe we ought to, try to catch up with Fox and Rush and Drudge. But if he did, guess what the republicans would say we were terrible, blah blah blah.

12. I don't think generalizations are good. But let me make some.
I think Dems have more heart, and may be more emotional.
But the tea bagger idiots are idiots, that's all, and were never really Reps. All the Reps I knew were calm, level headed, intelligent people, and just came to their conclusions.
The Republican party has been invaded by lunatics, low lifes, etc. All the decent ones are hiding or something.
Many have left the party alltogether.
There have been many many dem militant, law breaking, etc factions over the years.

13. From neocons to crazy-cons

From neocons to crazy-cons
By David Klinghoffer

"Once the conservative movement was about finding meaning in private life and public service. But it has undergone a shift toward demagoguery and hucksterism."

"Once, the iconic figures on the political right were urbane visionaries and builders of institutions — like William F. Buckley Jr., Irving Kristol and Father Richard John Neuhaus, all dead now. Today, far more representative is potty-mouthed Internet entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart, whose news and opinion website, Breitbart.com, is read by millions. In his most recent triumph, Breitbart got a U.S. Department of Agriculture official pushed out of her job after he released a deceptively edited video clip of her supposedly endorsing racism against white people...."

"What has become of conservatism? We have reached a point at which nothing could be more important than to stop and recall what brought us here, to the right, in the first place."

14. Is it impossible for Faux and others to book this kind of conservative on TV ?
Surely there are many more like him...

Jonah - I love war - Goldberg has this to say about Klinger....

While I have much regard for David Klinghoffer.......before he trashes him. I smell a shitstorm coming between the conserv-pukes with brains those without....

A quick google search of Klinghoffers article shows that the current agenda being pushed by the RW media machine is not sitting well with many within the ranks. We should expose this disconnect as often as humanly possible.
