If we ASSUME (yes, yes,I know) that most Americans are not satisfied with the status quo,
the basic question facing voters this November is stunningly simple: should they vote for the party that is proposing to actually TRY something different or the party that proposes---nothing.

If we can hammer that through the bullshit and into the consciousness of the voters between now and election day, we win going away.

1. Well said.

EDIT to add -- if we vote against the incumbents or don't vote, just to show them or because we refuse to support them, we weaken the power of those individuals who ARE trying really hard. This party has so many who are fighting the good fight, and I feel we have to support them otherwise they'll never accomplish what they're trying to do -- and what we want them to.

I'm just as pissed at those who are throwing a wrench in the works, and downright disgusted by some, but I want to make it possible for the good ones to succeed.

Thanks for the post.

3. But there are a bunch of people afraid of losing what (little)
they do have and so are resistant to any kind of change that might affect them.

Especially true in hard times.

I believe that's what we're up against.

4. We need to point out the steady downward trend in working class incomes
since the current policies have been in place.

I just read that, between 1973 and 2005, corporate profits increased 55% while wages, in real dollars, decreased by either 7 or 8 percent. THAT is what will cause people to "lose what little they do have"---continuing to allow corporate America to keep the profits generated by increased productivity. Labor must have a seat at the table and should help decide how the pie is divided. "Make it in America!" is a good start.
