more record "cold" temperature records tied/fall in southern california!
after a cooler than usual June and July, more colder than normal records were set or tied yesterday, with multiple coastal towns setting or equaling records for the lowest "high temperatures" for the day:

EL CAJON 78 TIED 78 IN 1999 SINCE 1979
LAGUNA BEACH 70 TIED 70 IN 1944 SINCE 1928
LA MESA 75 TIED 75 IN 1999 SINCE 1948
NEWPORT BEACH 67 TIED 67 IN 2002 SINCE 1934
OCEANSIDE HARBOR 66 68 IN 1999 SINCE 1953
VISTA 76 TIED 76 IN 1973 SINCE 1957
YORBA LINDA 81 83 IN 1973 SINCE 1948

Coastal towns have also been setting new records for "coldest" overnight lows as well.

What next, snow?

1. Lots of heavy fog at night, as well, at least along some coastal areas . . .

2. There's been a little chill in the air here in NM
in the early morning, even though the afternoons are popping up in the 90s.

Usually we don't start feeling that chill for another month or so.

Given the number of days over 100 we've had this year, it's welcome.

4. Climate change is climate change.

I think that's the point.

PS: Although this may just be one of those anomalies of weather that happen all the time.

5. It's raining today, temp in the 60's
One of our local weather gurus says this is the first Pacific low of the fall rainy season. Natl Weather Svc says Pugetopolis will be colder and wetter than usual for the next 6 months.

6. Maybe all your heat went to Greenland
Where it melted off a gargantuan ice island from a glacier.

7. I'm really enjoying this cool SoCal Summer
And I'm sure to remember it fondly when things heat up again...as they inevitably will. Whether it's hotter or colder than usual isn't what matters. What matters is that the weather is confused.

It's not weather change, it's climate change.
