TOLEDO, Ohio -- Nearly 2,000 people have applied for 30 spots in a police department in northwest Ohio.

Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre says the last time the department hired a new police class was in 2006.

Last-minute applicants filled out forms at the Toledo police department before the application period ended Friday.

Chief Navarre says the department will narrow the pool of with exams and background checks before they hire about 30 officers next spring.

Since it is that bad out there, I am going to significantly increase the quality of my work at my job.

1. sounds like the job market in Ohio is getting BETTER???
No I'm not being sarcastic. I remember something about Ford Sharonville Ohio plant hiring 120 people for 89 day jobs and over 10,000 people showed up back in 2008. That comes out to roughly 83 people for each opening for TEMP jobs. Now Ohio's down to 67 per opening. Still sucks the big one but sounds like a little improvement.

2. Nah.....not better
Every week on the local news, they talk about job loss. Companies are laying off/moving left and right. It's sad.
