Ah preparing that class on poli sci
damn I feel I am back at graduate school

That said, any of you in school? No, I am not employed by Barnes and Noble... but I had to get... a few books from them, in ebook form.

Their new NOOK Study is just great. I can open a few books at the same time and take notes and all that. And yes, I KNOW I could go dig out of storage my books... and I have already dug a few... but things like the Classics, found a few CHEAP, as in google books or really 99 cent editions...

Now back to reading some on Grotius... damn natural law and all that.

1. I just got out of summer school, I took State and Local Government and
Philosophy: Classical Traditions.

I only got a B in my government class. I only got one test question completely wrong, I wrote the definition for "Sunset Laws" when I was supposed to write the definition for "Sunshine Laws." My professor took off a point or two from each of my answers; those few points really brought my grade down. I crammed for two hours before each of the two tests, I guess that wasn't good enough. Two hours is usually enough. I received an A in Philosophy, two hours for each test was enough for that class.

I know a B is good, but I feel like I should get an A in any government class I take.

2. Well it happens
I graduated many years ago with honors in history (BA) and a minor in poli sci.

When I did my masters I was almost tripped by the thesis. Funny, I learned to write and rewrite and rewrite doing fiction.

But I have had to literally crack the books open and see how to teach some pretty complex concepts to newly minted freshmen.

That should be interesting, if I get the job. But I am still preparing for it.

3. My wife teaches anatomy and she absolutely loves it.
She is an anatomy fiend, she told me she would teach it free of charge if the school could not pay her. Teaching anatomy is one of her most favorite things in the whole world.

4. Cool! I do poly sci! Coming soon! Noodle Brain Productions in DVD form. Orders? (tee hee)
Gandhi died for crap, given what we allowed to happen..
Arbitrarily and suddenly: tribal and feudal matters
encroaching on all good will and choking civility to near
death.... MY movies teach a gentle way to take care of
yourself so you are present enough to take care of others.
The education is free on the web. The main intro movie is on
youtube.com/msnoodlebrain site. check it out. I think I need
to provide my work to the public schools so the people can
unite where it matters, huh?

6. Well I will be asking folks to read things like Plato's Republic
and The Federalist (10 and 26)

And a few others. (Like oh the US Constitution)

Need to get college students to start thinking of pretty heavy stuff, such as where does legitimacy come in the state? Or more basic, why the state?

7. I am thinking of pulling the trigger on buying the Nook
How well does it handle Google Docs (both EPUB and PDF)? My primary interest would be nice reading copies from that source.

I guess I would occasionally buy a $10 book, but I usually buy used and do pretty well. Will want to get my hands on Philip Freeman's Alexander the Great when it comes out (I loved his Julius Caesar). Also Martin's A Dance with Dragons.

8. I don't own the nook
what i downloaded was the computer client... well not client specifically. The Nook study allows me to open several books and handles them very well.

PDF and EPUB will be handled by the nook anyway. Those are kind of native file formats for it.

If I pull the trigger on anything I fear it will have to be an IPAD... msotly I have SEVERAL book readers on the IPOD TOUCH and that way one device will handle all, including Kindle which is proprietary.
