1. Does the difference between a prayer room and what is being planned in NYC have to be explained
in detail again?

That does not mean I agree with those saying it should be blocked, but we should at least use basic logic on our side.

4. I think it does
Since what's being built in Manhattan is a community center with a prayer room. You must have missed it the first time around?

5. I'm not sure quibbling over mosque vs. prayer room is productive
It means nothing to the bigots, who would still object if the prayer room were the size of a broom closet, and even if it were to be removed entirely.

After all, they object that the Cordoba House is "too close" to Ground Zero--while they object to a mosque in Temecula, CA, which apparently is still not far enough away.

Bigotry will find a rationale for its objections, and it will always be one that professes to have nothing to do with bigotry.

8. It's counterproductive
It pretends there is no mosque, when in fact the plans for the building include a mosque and always have. The imam behind the project is building it because his existing mosque is too small to support his growing congregation. They chose the building site because it's available, it fits the footprint of what they need, and it's close to where their congregation is. Pretending the building won't contain a mosque is not only silly, it simply gives ammo to the bigots who will simply say such rhetoric is duplicitous.

7. You mean the "prayer room" that has a capacity for 2,000?
The "prayer room" the person responsible for the building (and his wife) are calling a mosque?

The "prayer room" that Islamtoday is calling a mosque?

Is that the "prayer room" you are talking about?

Building a mosque 'where a piece of the wreckage fell.... sends the opposite statement to what happened on 9/11, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the cleric leading the project, told the New York Times last year.
