John Boner considers changing 14 amendment...
Edited on Mon Aug-09-10 10:44 AM by Green_Lantern
http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/08/08/pol.boehner.immigration/">Changing the Constitution's guarantee of U.S. citizenship for anyone born in the United States is "worth considering" if it helps reduce illegal immigration, the Republican leader in the House of Representatives said Sunday. "It's a serious problem that affects our country, and in certain parts of our country clearly our schools, our hospitals are being overrun by illegal immigrants. A lot of them came here just so their children could become U.S. citizens. They should do it the legal way," House Minority Leader John Boehner told NBC's "Meet the Press." The Ohio congressman, who could become speaker of the House if Republicans win back control of the chamber in November, is the latest GOP leader to float the idea of changing the 14th Amendment. Several leading GOP senators, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and 2008 presidential nominee John McCain, have said they would support holding hearings into the matter as part of the heated debate over immigration.

Yes the GOP is driven by their fringe. I say let them try it and alienate minority voters even more.

1. Let him try.
It'll never happen, and these stupid issues will continue to drain the GOP campaign coffers while the Dems continue to be the adults in the room.

6. it's a political ploy until the forces they would control start to control them.
short-term, irresponsible, immoral thinking.

4. Bohner couldn't change his underwear,
he's delusional. The fucking Republicans want to get rid of all illegal immigrants yet they didn't pass health care for 9/11 first responders because the money would have come from foreign corporations losing their offshore tax havens?

5. Is illegal immigration the problem or is it a symptom of a problem
such as income disparity and class warfare etc..? Also the United states foreign policy, CIA and military is infamously known for setting up puppet governments around the world that benefit mostly big corporations and the status-quo at the expense of workers. What interventions or influences has U.S. had in Mexico that has helped or exasperated the problems of labor? Was NAFTA good or bad for most workers? In a cause and affect world, to what degree is illegal immigration in the United States something akin to our chickens coming home to roost..? It seems like all the hype about protecting the country from illegal immigrants is synonymous with rich people building gated communities that protect them from the consequences of their actions.
