Tell the People the truth and all is forgiven
I admire much about the Obama administration and disdain much about it.

The WH could do something that would make me always like them no matter what. (Like I felt when Al Gore said that atheists count as Americans.)

Tell the people the truth about the economy.

Tell the people that the people are mistaken.

The deficit is not the cause of any, and I mean ANY economic problem today. Period. Zero. Nada.

It could be in a completely different environment but we live in the world we live in and the deficit is currently doing nothing but helping.

And if it was a lot larger it would help even more. Today.

Tell the people that we need 3-5% inflation to have any hope of recovery.

Tell the people that we can never hope to balance the budget tomorrow without staggering deficit spending today... much larger than even our current deficits.

Explain it to them with patience and care.

And if they reject it then at least somebody told them the truth for once.

Do that and I will even submit to the drug-testing.

2. They've let the RW frame the economic debate in terms of deficit
just like on almost every other issue.

4. Have they *let* the right wing frame the debate,
or are they *part* of the right wing?

3. I agree.
I have always thought, and said, that all the President needs to do for us is to talk truthfully to us, and then to follow up by doing

the same to the Congress.

Am I asking for too much?

I think not.

5. How will that help the corporations?
That's really all that matters to nearly every politician in power today.

6. Yes. He's making the same mistakes FDR made.
FDR was too concerned about deficit spending during his first two years because conservatives in Congress were pressuring him on the budget. He realized his mistake when things got worse after they cut spending. I hope Obama changes course too, but he has a habit of sticking to something when he says he's going to do it.
