He's an idiot for what he said and should be fired, but, you know what, if he believes what he said, then he should act like a woman and stick by it (unless he believes he was wrong; then he's just being hubristic and should apologize).

I wish more dems. did this. I'm tired of apologies because one is fearful of offending a certain constituency. Say what you mean and then you don't back down. What's the saying, a faux pas in politics is saying something you believe to be true?

So he should have the moral courage to stick by his statement, and then he should be fired. If Rahm weren't such a DLC triangulatin' fool, he'd most certainly sack him. Methinks Rahm et al. see something positive here for the midterms. It wasn't pre-meditated, mind you, but there isn't a ton of damage control for the midterms.

'The devil you know is better than the one you don't know' is an old but true saying. I've learned a lot about Gibbs as a result of his statements and would never trust him again as a result no matter how much apologized.

Obama should fire him and hire Dean ... that would energize the base and assure a win for Democrats in November.

A lot of DLCers have stated in the past their admiration for the scorched earth tactics of Karl Rove. Gibbs appears to be one of those faux democrats. I say faux because no real Democrat would do what he did to Howard Dean. Dean certainly wouldn't do it.

8. He lost my respect

When you're job is to speak to the public in the name of the President and the Administration you need to use more diplomatic language. I can't even imagine Obama saying those words. And if he had said something similar it wouldn't have sounded so insulting.

To me he sounded like a Republican. I would expect such a statement from Ari Fletcher about Democrats. I certainly didn't expect it from a Democrat against Democrats.
