Question: I am curious about a remark made by Aravosis in response to the Gibbs public meltdown.
In this article on Americablog,
"Gibbs: People who are upset with Obama don't live in real America, didn't help get Obama elected"
http://www.americablog.com/2010/08/gibbs-people-who-are-upset-with-obama.html

John Aravosis states:
"Then there's all that work we did for the campaign, all the dirty work they asked us to do - and we did it, gladly, and quietly - none of that counted either, apparently."

He provides nothing to back up his cryptic claim.
Was this an unsupported and unjustified shot in the dark,
or is there something more to this story?

Does anyone have any information?

1. It's, uh . . . , disingenuous to act like the real question isn't "What are you doing NOW?"

3. No.
The honest question is precisely what I asked:

"He provides nothing to back up his cryptic claim.
Was this an unsupported and unjustified shot in the dark,
or is there something more to this story?

Does anyone have any information?"

If YOU want to know "What are you doing NOW?",
then be honest, and ask that yourself.

7. My point was: Whatever it was that he THOUGHT he acquired by means of what he did in the PAST is
moot at this point, because this point is not then, it is NOW, a different configuration of factors and potentialities.

If he made a mistake in the past about what he was doing:what he would get for doing it, that's really really unfortunate, but kicking and screaming at this point *will* *get* *you* *NOTHING*, so he has a decision to make: give up and go away - or - adapt appropriately and try to move toward his/her goals. It "makes me no never-mind" what s/he does, only that the decision IS made.

8. History is "moot" ?
....maybe on your planet.

I have always had a burning thirst to know What Really Happened.
I don't think your opinion about what **IS** and what **IS NOT** important is going to change that.

11. One person's perception of what was going on is "History"? You may also notice that
I used the word "adapt" which is a reaction to whatever happened, whether that is what "we" agree is "History" or not.

12. Oh, and I didn't say "History" is moot. I said whatever s/he THOUGHT about "the deal"
is moot.

18. Avaros made it quite clear he meant raising money and making phone calls
and the rest of the scutt work of politics at the precint level. Your clip avoids all the context and makes a mystery of nothing at all.

2. I don't think he means wet work if that's what you're getting at
carrying water - advancing spin supplied by the Obama campaign- that's what I interpret that remark to mean.

4. LOL.
I hadn't considered "wet work", but nothing shocks me anymore.

It WAS a cryptic reference.
The only thing missing was the nod-wink and forefinger alongside the nose....and maybe some coded gang signs with the hands.

I can't help but wonder WTF is he talking about.
AFAIK, Obama ran a squeaky clean campaign.
He certainly gave the appearance of Above all the Dirt.

5. No, the dirty work is the grunt work...answering phones, making cold calls...
...stuffing envelopes...all the unglamorous stuff that needs to be done.

9. I think you are probably right,
but I always did that gladly, and NEVER considered it "dirty work".
I could see it if he had called it "The HARD Work", but he didn't.
To me, it sounded like he was implying something more sinister.

15. why would "dirty work" be done "QUIETLY?" Why Would John say the " dirty work was done Quietly"?
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 07:06 PM by flyarm
why would anyone ask John to do " all the dirty work they asked us to do - and we did it, gladly, and quietly -"

Why would phone banking, envelope stuffing , cold calls have to be done "QUIETLY?"

That makes no sense whatsoever!

Makes a good excuse for what John was saying, but no sense.

And remember John was a huge attack dog on Hillary!

is left to the imagination. "Dirty work" done gladly and QUIETLY.

14. From the article: Aravosis craised $43,000 for the Obama campaign
Joe and I are upset with Obama, and we, for example, raised nearly $43,000 for the man, According to the White House, our money now doesn't count. Great, would they like to give it back? I for one, would love the $1000 back that I personally donated to the Obama campaign. Joe gave even more. I suspect a lot of our readers wouldn't mind their contributions back too, since apparently they're not appreciated.

19. Good question. Sounds (to me) like he pushed the propaganda when asked.
He now resents doing that work if he's going to be called irrelevant and in need of drug testing.

Of course, I am just hypothesizing. I'd like to hear his answer.
