OK... I've Decided... Elizabeth Warren Is My Last Straw !!!
I know that for some here, they are way past their last straw with Obama, and there are others who are the ultimate bales of hay, but this is the one for me.

Suprise me, Mr. President...

Show us that you are not "owned".

I'm beggin ya...

Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 08:04 PM by cascadiance
And Obama lately hasn't been giving us a history of his actions that would have us expect strong support for an important progressive-driven ideal that flies in the face of corporate agenda. To expect it not to happen again is to stay in denial.

Now do I "hate" Obama? NO! Do I "hope" he defies the odds and shifts gears to help us who put him in to office? YES! I care more about this country succeeding than wanting him to "fail". Now if you look at the "professional right" who he tends to coddle rather than has his minions dismiss ilke us, they have the opposite philosophy. They care more about him failing and taking power than our country succeeding.

But am I going to keep "hoping" because he tells me too without doing anything to give us reasons to believe that that hope would be delivered on? Time's running out for that. We've been way too patient for way too long IMO...

The Telecommunications bill was my last straw with Clinton (and it led to precisely the set of circumstances that I knew that it would).

Others will accept pretty much anything their leader does- or says. Often regardless of the foreseeable consequences.

37. Found the link to the story I read mentioning Barr.
Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 08:37 PM by PA Democrat
Also mentions Gene Kimmelman of the Justice Department, formerly head of the Consumers Union. He sounds like a good guy except his expertise is in the area of telecommunications, not banking.

Barr's, credentials are impressive, but I don't like anyone too close to Geithner. I'm definitely not a fan of Tim Geithner and would not trust him not to try to exert undue influence on Barr.

62. Here Ya Go:
Other candidates widely considered as finalists for the post include assistant Michael S. Barr, an assistant Treasury secretary, and Eugene Kimmelman, a deputy assistant attorney general in the Justice Department's Antitrust Division.

Link: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/political-economy/2010/07/gibbs_calls_warren_terrific_ca.html

The people who don’t want Elizabeth Warren running the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have consistently sought other options. One of the perennial alternatives has been Treasury Department official Michael Barr, and he gets the profile treatment at the Wall Street Journal, with an emphasis on his preference for tough rules on those who offer financial products.

Perhaps to sidestep the negative connotations of the Treasury Department, and the idea that Warren would be passed over for a Tim Geithner deputy, a new player has entered this fray. Chris Dodd has reportedly gauged the interest of Sheila Bair, the current head of the FDIC, for the position.

Link: http://news.firedoglake.com/2010/08/02/barr-bair-tapped-as-anti-warren-forces-make-their-move/

Bair turned Dodd down.

And yeah... I'm gonna vote (Obama's not on the ballot, you realize) for Matsui, Boxer, Brown, Prop 19, Prop 25 just to name a few...

And I'll try to refrain from posting negative posts... I'll try instead to post about days of yore when Democrats had spines and knew how to fight the forces of EVIL, LOL!

Somebody get the kryptonite (bi-partisanship) away from Obama, fast!!!

Damn... THAT didn't last long.

20. Misleading.
She is clearly the best person for the job. And there is a pattern of passing over progressives who are the best person for the job. This one really is a no-brainer and even if she was passed over some legitimate reason or other, it would be less of a disappointment if that pattern didn't exist.

Out of 300 million Americans, Barack Obama was the one who could do the job? Doesn't sound like such a compelling argument when it is phrased that way.
