FEATURED PROFILES

Foreign Policy Initiative
In a replay of the modus operandi of the Project for the New American Century, the newly enshrined Foreign Policy Initiative released an open letter to President Obama on human rights in Russia that included signatories from both the neocon camp and established human rights organizations.

Paul Wolfowitz
The former Pentagon number two and ex-head of the World Bank added his voice to the chorus of hardliners denouncing President Obama’s “weakness” in confronting the election crisis in Iran.

Robert Kagan
The neoconservative foreign policy guru recently cofounded a letterhead group that some see as a transparent attempt to rehabilitate neoconservatism.

Richard Allen
Ensconced at the conservative Hoover Institution, this former member of Donald Rumsfeld’s Defense Policy Board now seems to spend much of his time lambasting President Obama and venerating the memory of Ronald Reagan.

Otto Reich
The controversial Iran-Contra veteran who served as an assistant secretary of state under George W. Bush remains a divisive figure in U.S.-Latin American relations.

9. and how about this?Iran enterprise institute
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Iran_Enterprise_Institute

The Iran Enterprise Institute (IEI) registered online November 9, 2006, as a domestic non-profit corporation with the Government of the District of Columbia. (File No.: 263350)

The IEI is a "privately funded nonprofit drawing not just its name but inspiration and moral support from leading figures associated with the American Enterprise Institute," Laura Rozen wrote November 13, 2006, in The American Prospect.

The IEI "does have an application" in to the U.S. Department of State for funding, Rozen added.

"The Iran Enterprise Institute is directed by a newly arrived Iranian dissident whose cause has recently been championed by AEI fellow and former Pentagon advisor Richard Perle. Amir Abbas Fakhravar, 31, served time in Iran's notorious Evin prison before arriving in Washington in May <2006>, with Perle’s help. Fakhravar, who advocates U.S. intervention to promote secular democracy in Iran, now seeks Washington’s backing to lead an organization that would unite Iranian student dissidents," Rozen wrote.

15. Not officially as far as I know. They are probably trying not to look like PNAC 2.0.
But it is the same two principal founding members and they are probably pushing the exact same bullshit (I haven't bothered to read the FPI website). I honestly have no idea why anyone even pays attention to Bill Kristol - he is invariably wrong on almost every major issue.

13. Edelman
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Eric_S._Edelman

Eric S. Edelman was appointed undersecretary of defense for policy by President George W. Bush in a recess appointment, August 9, 2005. Edelman can serve in that position until January 2007.

Edelman replaced Douglas Feith in the No. 3 position in the Pentagon. "Democrats on the Senate Armed Services Committee led by Carl Levin of Michigan, their ranking member, stalled Edelman's nomination to force the release of documents related to a specialized intelligence unit Feith set up before the conflict."

Eric S. Edelman, a career U.S. diplomat and former advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney, is a distinguished fellow at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments

Edelman also serves as a corporate adviser. In February 2010, Edelman became a member of the “strategic advisory firm,” Avascent International, a group that aims to help “corporations, financial institutions, and governments identify and capture strategic opportunities around the world.”

14. Kagan
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Robert_Kagan

Robert Kagan is a senior associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a co-founder of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and was one of the signers of the January 26, 1998, PNAC letter sent to President William Jefferson Clinton.<1> He is considered to be one of the leading neo-conservatives.

snip

The Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI) is a neoconservative think tank begun in 2009 by William Kristol and Robert Kagan, two founders of the Project for the New American Century. FPI is, according to its website, "intending to qualify as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code: and "that promotes continued U.S. engagement -- diplomatic, economic, and military -- in the world and rejection of policies that would lead us down the path to isolationism; robust support for America’s democratic allies and opposition to rogue regimes that threaten American interests; the human rights of those oppressed by their governments, and U.S. leadership in working to spread political and economic freedom; a strong military with the defense budget needed to ensure that America is ready to confront the threats of the 21st century; and, an international economic engagement as a key element of U.S. foreign policy in this time of great economic dislocation." <2>

William (Bill) Kristol is the neo-conservative editor and publisher of the political magazine The Weekly Standard. He is the chairman and co-founder of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC).<1> He is a board member of the Emergency Committee for Israel. <2>

Kristol is the son of Irving Kristol, who is "often called the 'godfather' of the neoconservative movement"<3>, and Gertrude Himmelfarb<4>.<5>
Kristol also signed the September 20, 2001, PNAC letter<10> endorsing President George W. Bush's "admirable commitment to 'lead the world to victory' in the war against terrorism."

Kristol said in a January 14, 2003, PBS Frontline interview "that the significance of President George W. Bush's State of the Union address in 2002 (the 'axis of evil' speech) is too easily forgotten -- that it was a rare moment, 'the creation of a new American foreign policy' -- and that Bush deserves credit for realizing very quickly after Sept. 11 that his presidency would be judged by how he handled the post-9/11 threat of weapons of mass destruction."<11>

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Dan_Senor

Daniel Samuel "Dan" Senor<1> was a foreign policy adviser to Mitt Romney in his campaign for the Republican nomination for the 2008 presidential election.<2>

In 2009 Senor co-founded The Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI), a neoconservative think tank begun with William Kristol and Robert Kagan, two founders of the Project for the New American Century

On July 12, 2007, Senor and Ari Fleischer appeared together on Fox News's Hannity & Colmes regarding the passage of legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives which "ignored the president's veto threat" and "call for the withdrawal of all U.S. troops in Iraq by April of 2008."<6>

Senor, spokesman in August 2006 for the pro-war in Iraq Republican front group Vets for Freedom, and Fleischer, a founding board member and spokesman for the pro-war in Iraq White House front group Freedom's Watch which emerged in August 2007, were introduced by their former Bush administration functions: "former Coalition Provisional Authority spokesman in Iraq" and "former White House press secretary" respectively.

34. Don't forget "neolibs" like Peter Beinart, Paul Kennedy, Will Marshall, Michael O'Hanlon, and
http://www.rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/Project_for_the_New_American_Century

On January 28, 2005, PNAC issued its final open letter. Addressed to congressional leaders, it requested that they "take the steps necessary to increase substantially the size of the active duty Army and Marine Corps." At least 25,000 troops a year would be needed to meet what Condoleezza Rice called the country's "generational commitment" to fighting terrorism in the greater Middle East. Turning on some of its erstwhile allies in the Bush administration, like Rumsfeld, the letter stated: "The administration has been reluctant to adapt to this new reality.… We understand the dangers of continued federal deficits and the fiscal difficulty of increasing the number of troops. But the defense of the United States is the first priority of the government."34 This letter was notable for the many liberal hawks and liberal internationalists—Peter Beinart, Paul Kennedy, Will Marshall, Michael O'Hanlon, and James Steinberg—who joined the neoconservatives in signing.
