I don't know how to explain it but I have seen it.

It is a shrinking of the size if the economy on purpose.

I saw a version of this in Cost Rica only they went in the reverse direction we are going. There are very wealthy people in Costa Rica who live in walled in, gated communities with guard houses on the corners. Below them are the professional educated class and below them are everyone else. Basically the Rich, the upper middle class and the poor. There is no real middle class if you think about is as a percentage of the whole.

We are going there only for us it is a step down to eliminate the majority of the middle class leaving only the upper middle class, for them it was a step up to create an upper middle class.

This is the reason that our bills passed this year and last were watered down. It's the reason there is no real jobs bill. It is the reason the tea party is allowed to rant and rave, a lot of fury signifying nothing really. It's the reason why the biggest ecological tragedy in our history will be forgotten by this time next year. It's the reason Wall Street is more important than Main street.

The lower classes on the left and the right will have their seemingly important battles for the attention of those in power who don't really give a shit about either of them. Those of the lower classes are expendable.

The well off and the upper middle class will protect each other because they need each other to survive but the poor are plentiful and expendable.
