1000 New Combat Troops About to Head to Iraq from Ft. Hood
The 3rd ACR is a COMBAT REGIMENT. They have the one of the highest number of casualties of any division. They also have one of the highest rates of traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, and PTSD.

The Occupation of Iraq is NOT over. The troops being sent are COMBAT troops. It sickens me to see people repeating propaganda that "combat operations are ending" and "the last combat troops are leaving Iraq." It's unfair to the Iraqi people, to the US troops, and to the American public. It's cynical and despicable politicking.

4. And 50K COMBAT troops still staying there
Like the Vietnam "Advisers."

The Doublespeak of war is vile.

5. I see I'm not the only one who noticed the parallel with Vietnam "advisors"
here's what the non-combat troops will be doing: "a residual force will remain in Iraq and in the region to conduct targeted counter-terrorism missions against al Qaeda in Iraq and to protect American diplomatic and civilian personnel."

from a link someone else gave me to ironically prove they were not combat troops: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8971501

6. That's more than six weeks ago and a complete distortion. From the letter in the OP
The troops were to help with pre-deployment:

11. Oh please.
The troops were sent for a specific purpose. As reported on MSNBC, combat operations were long over, removing the combat forces is the action completed today. The mission changes officially, and no amount of bitterness and desire to spin gloom changes that.

12. Unless you can confirm that these troops are still on a combat
mission the OP remains FOS.

7. Why don't you wait and see if the orders are revised before you assume we're
being lied to? I can't help but think if this was BS, they wouldn't have called in MSNBC to cover it because the truth would eventually get out.

You're awfully quick to charge despicable politicking.

We look forward to hearing any updates that you may learn of regarding the 3d ACR.

13. don't jump to conclusions on this
this is dated July 8 and from first hand experience I can tell you that orders can come down to go and be cancelled later. I was scheduled to go to VietNam and my orders were cancelled when we stopped sending troops. Take time and out and don't over react please.

Disruptive, misleading flame bait, is what the OP is.

19. Remember "Obama's Katrina?" The one in Haiti, not all the other ones.
Remember all the people upset that Obama was "deploying combat troops" to the earthquake zone? Man, what a bunch of fucks they were, amirite?
