I receive countless "FW's" in my email box from my RW relatives and others who try and use scare tactics to STOP OBAMA! I probably get these because I remarried into a RW family. I normally ignore the emails because I don't want to be tempted into an argument with people that are related to my wife. However, this one I just couldn't resist responding to. I'm not sure that there is a way to get through to these people. I don't hold out much hope.

On a personal note...
Stop and think for a moment what it would take to stop ANYONE'S right to freedom of speech in this country. If you are honest with yourself, you will realize that this can never happen. I can only conclude that you see our current President as some sort of threat. This makes it easy to believe that he actually has the power to take this basic freedom away. No one, regardless of their political affiliation or religious identification, would stand for the loss of our freedom of speech rights. Even if I completely disagreed with your position, I would fight to the death for you to express it. Just think for a moment.

Pastor Removal from Television

Removal of 20, including Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Charles Stanley,
David Jeremiah and other pastors from the airwaves.

An organization has been granted a Federal Hearing on the same subject
by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington , D.C.
Their petition, Number 2493, would ultimately pave the way to stop the
reading of the gospel of our Lord and Savior, on the airwaves of America.

They got 287,000 signatures to back their stand! If this attempt is
successful, all Sabbath &Sunday worship services being broadcast on the
radio or by television will be stopped..
This group is also campaigning to remove all Christmas programs and
Christmas carols from public schools! You, as a Christian, can help!

We are praying for at least 1 million signatures.

This would defeat their effort and show that there are many Christians alive,
well and concerned about our country…. As Christians, we must unite on this.

Please don't take this lightly.

We ignored one lady once and lost prayer in our schools and in offices across the nation.

Please stand up for your religious freedom and let your voice be heard.

Together we can make a difference in our country while creating an opportunity for the
lost to know the Lord.

I was getting repeatedly pounded by my lunatic fringe in-laws with this last year so I crafted this reply that I would send each time:

I understand your concern about this since I know many of you watch these programs, and I know you are copying me on these because I work in television and you want my take on it. Well here it is. Everything in this email is patently false. There is not one shred of truth to it. But don't take my word for it, go to http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/fcc.asp
And read it for yourself .

After you've read it, think about this. Commandment 9, do not bear false witness against your neighbor. When you all believed this to be true and passed it along out of concern, that was one thing. But now if you keep slinging it around out of spite just because you hate "liberal heathens" like me....well, commandment 9 speaks for itself.

And in case you're wondering just who is your neighbor, a good place to look is Luke 10: 25-37. Please think hard before perpetuating lies and misinformation. It doesn't do anyone any good, it just creates division and animosity.
