Theoretically Sufis preach Mutual civility, interaction and cooperation.
Under a doctrine like this a compromise on the location of the mosque seems necessary.

I guess we will see how true to their religion they are.

1. Could you compile all your brainfarts on the topic into one thread?
Do you even think or talk about anything else?

4. Someone made a comment on Sufism so I decided I needed to educate myself.
I begin to see this as a test of what we have been saying about this moderate form of Islam. You all wanted differentiation from the extremist strain so I took pains to indulge this request. Now I know what should be the difference and I would like to see if these principles are real or not.

I've finally realized why I came down on the side of the 9/11 families. I don't expect people who are grieving to be perfectly logical. But the leader of a religious group who claims he wants to create peace and harmony doesn't get leeway for miscalculating, at least not from me.

If you want to be a leader and you claim to represent a group you better know what you are doing and you should fix things if it starts going bad. It's the same criticism I have of Obama. When you make promises of peace or of 8% unemployment you better execute because you have put all your people on the line.

This is the project of a few but they have dragged everyone in

2. Yes and Christians are commanded to ...
Turn the other cheek, love their enemies, and do onto others. Two can play at that silly game.

6. Pah that is why I can't stand Christianity either.
All the religions are disappointing. Or their leaders anyway.

That is supposed to be what they are known for.

other community center that meets all the requirements and building codes.

They must never blame Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Taoists, Hindus or any other community for the actions of a few of their members.

They must never allow themselves to be discriminated against and treated as second class Americans - because if they do, they are opening the door for others to be treated as second class citizens too.

They must never-ever remain silent when any community including their own is being victimized by a national hate campaign - because if they do, they are opening the doors for any community to be treated the same.

11. I respectfully disagree with the prospect of compromise. My dealings with Sufis left me with
the impression, they would be sympathetic to the pleading to move. But they would stay put, explain reasonably and rationally why they were staying, promise to be good neighbors, move in, and then prove by their deeds & words they meant it.
