Missouri Republican Senate hopeful Roy Blunt pulled a video from his campaign website that juxtaposed opponent Robin Carnahan’s reasons for not opposing outright a mosque near the World Trade Center site, amid an image of destruction from that horrific day nearly nine years ago.

Carnahan, the Democratic Missouri secretary of state, had accused Blunt of politicizing the 9/11 attacks by using the video. She has called on him to apologize to the families of the victims.

Blunt, a Republican congressman, told the Associated Press that he didn’t know the video had been posted and said that he yanked it because it was distracting from other issues.
