Beck/Palin rally permit approved - 300,000 expected
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 06:31 PM by RamboLiberal
The National Park Service said Thursday that it has approved the permit for the Aug. 28 Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin rally at the Lincoln Memorial.

Park Service spokesman Bill Line said the permit indicates that organizers expect 300,000 people to attend. Line said it is a "fixed rally" without a march. The rally will go from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The park service is processing a permit request for a counter demonstration and rally by the Rev. Al Sharpton on the same day along Independence Avenue, south of the memorial. Line said the Sharpton rally organizers list 3,000 expected attendees on their permit request.

Can I hope for a massive rainstorm that day? Or 100+ temperatures?

There were competing claims of 20,000 to 1.2 million.

4. Luv this - 'Honor' is big moneymaker for the dishonorable
Looking to right-wing-nut elitist drive-by bloviator Glenn Beck for guidance on anything remotely having to do with the concept of "honor" is like looking to the Blazing Saddles' Mongo as a role model for table manners.

This guy wouldn't grasp the meaning of "honor" if it was wrapped in a red, white and blue box and presented to him by Sgt. Alvin York, Pat Tillman and Nathan Hale.

But there he will be next week on the National Mall surrounded by his fellow tea bag travelers, sycophants and gofers promoting a cause near and dear to the Lord Haw-Haw of the FOP News Network: Glenn Beck himself.

The Father Coughlin-ultra-lite will be the ringmaster for a "Restoring Honor" rally on Aug. 28 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial — the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech on the exact same spot.

10. I wonder how it would go over if someone burned a Confederate Flag or two at that one?
I'd bet it would start a riot if someone were to burn a Confederate Flag at their rally - same as at a Tea-baggers get-together.

By the way, one of the Cspan hosts cut a caller off the other day for calling those idiots Teabaggers, rather than Tea Party idiots I suppose. What's wrong with Teabaggers?

In a video promoting the rally on the Restoring Honor YouTube page, singer Krista Branch tells people to "leave your signs at home."

This "rally" is a Fox News event and it is being staged by two white people with history of making racist comments all at the Lincoln Memorial to celebrate Martin Luther King? It's about as ugly as it comes.

55. No, you don't need to hope for those things
If organizers claim they expect 300,000 to attend, that means 3000 will show up--maybe.

There is one upside to a Beck/Palin Rally that's billed as attracting 300,000: they will have to rent enough portable toilets to service 300,000 people, and the portable toilet companies in the DC area will experience a nice little windfall. Plus...you never have to wait to go to the bathroom at one of those rallies because there's usually one toilet per attendee.

Yeah. THAT'S going to happen.

10,000 TOPS. Bank on it.

We'll know how steaming the rack of attendance bullshit will be because let's face it - it's a conservative gathering, so naturally EVERY major cable news outlet will cover every burp, grunt, fact-void statement, hyperbole, misspelled sign, talking point, Red-bait and seventy-foot flag in High Definition! You know, sort of like the OPPOSITE of what they do every time 300-500 THOUSAND of us gathered for real to protest the war.

Screen caps will be readily available. We'll just see about the Woodstockesque prediction, there.
