I was just wondering, how did Kuwait feel about being invaded last night?
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 06:36 PM by ThomWV
As I watched the last combat Brigade "pull out of Iraq" last night (live thanks to Keith and Rachel) I could not get it out of my mind, how does Kuwait feel about the Combat Brigade crossing into their country just full of spunk and ready to fire?

1. As I recall they stopped at the border and unloaded their guns--
inactivated all arms. Kuwait still likes us, I suppose, given our having come to their aid in the first Gulf war...

3. Kuwait gets invaded everyday
There are several bases in Kuwait and units leave and enter all the time. You go from 'amber' to 'green' when you enter Kuwait though so they may not be ready to fire. :)

4. They unloaded before crossing
and there is a SOFA as well, driving all that. So if you allow a foreign force a right of transit, technically you are not getting invaded.

6. Couldn't have actually watched last night either, or he would have seen them all unload, etc.

11.  Kuwait is home territory for the troops
I'm sure we give them billions in foreign aid for the privilege of using it as a base.

18. Kuwait being invaded?
I watched Olberman and Rachel - I didn't see Kuwait being invaded. What is with the topic?

Maybe I don't understand the meaning invaded.

19. The way I took it was that
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 07:21 PM by Confusious
The US is bad, even when good things happen.

We don't have friends or allies, just people we push around. Which is true in a lot of cases, but not this one.

Maybe the OP was trying to do his/her best impression of howard zinn.

16. There is a reason Americans vote for the GOP given some progressive statements
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 07:09 PM by stray cat
they really do seem sane compared to some progressive voices. Worse than Sarah Palin protecting us from Russia because she can see it from her house

20. I don't think we were watching the same channel
Full of spunk and fire? What does that mean. First of all, Kuwait is a safe place for us to use, soldiers were excited to be returning home and I don't get your fire?

21. This is about as uninformed and goofy thread I ever saw
first the movement of troops to Kuwait was done with permission of Kuwait so it wasn't a surprise to them. Secondly, would you say we were invading Germany by sending our wounded troops to Germany for care? This is really an embarrassment for DU that one here would make such a dumb thread.

22. Anyone else besides me thought this post was a joke?
Meaning it wasn't intended to be serious.

I still kinda feel it is a joke but considering the reactions that take the OP seriously I'm not so sure. Maybe it wasn't a joke.
