1. There's a reason its the FIRST Amendment!
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

2. Of course
The freedom to worship as one chooses or not at all and the fact that the government will not favor one faith over another is among the strongest pillars that made America America.

3. Freedom OF religion and freedom FROM religion.
What's correct for you won't be for everyone. No one should be able to impose their religious views on others. Period.

4. So should the constitution guarentee Freedom from Religion?
Rather than Freedom of Religion?

6. Some interpret the Constitution does both.
Freedom of religion also covers those who have no religion, or choose to believe in something other than the mainstream.

There was a discussion about this once, perhaps on Olbermann or Maddow. It would make a good topic for a story, though.

8. Hear, hear!
There is no doubt whatsoever that this "issue" would be D.O.A. if the proposal was re-branded the Ground Zero Jeebus Loves The Dead 9/11 People Church of the Ascension.

I love the blatant hypocrisy of the so-called "big government hating" rethugs on this...just one more example of how they do not want the government interfering in private matters, unless they don't like the way those private matters are being conducted.

7. Yes. Freedom OF and freedom FROM.
The US government should stay the hell out of people's beliefs.
