Obama has had to deal with one disaster after another.
Edited on Fri Aug-20-10 04:22 PM by Renew Deal
And I think he's done well. I've heard that the presidency is about dealing with problems, but :wtf:.

Here's the ones I remember:
Financal Meltdown
Iraq
Afghanistan
Haiti (10,000 soldiers deployed in no time with no warning)
BP Disaster
Egg Contamination (Over 380 million and counting)

And there's been other stuff:
2 Supreme Court vacancies
WV Mining Disaster
Swine Flu
Pakistan Flood
Lebron :silly:

3. For the eggs?
I don't think he should. He should be able to handle that on the road. It's not really his job anyway. Somebody wake up Vilsack!

5. Ain't that the truth...
don't know if I would either. Especially with the muslim shit stirred up again. As if he doesn't have enough going on. Perfect timing on the re-thugs part. Stir this shit up again during the Mosque/community center controversy and while everyone is talking about the mid terms elections.

10. Disaster is the name of the game
If you don't want to deal with it the don't be a capitalist. Disaster is built into our whole system.
We live in a cyclical world of overproduction, high unemployment, and collapsing financial markets. this has gone on since the great tulip bulb crash. Capitalism will always exploit resources in a short sighted way. There is no great ego stroke for playing it safe when you can take chances and be a big winner. The motto of capitalism has always been "Apres moi le deluge." It's just sometimes you get caught holding the bag.

12. my view
Being unable to post through the primary and campaign and the presidency (I got back on
DU just recently), I've had a lot I wanted to say but couldn't post. Living through elections since 64, I learned one thing well: the president never meets all the expectations of those who voted for him.

There are things I wish Obama would do, things I wish he hadn't done, etc, etc, etc. But "good grief, Charlie Brown" (that dates me, right?), remember where the country was when Obama took office. AND that he's been president for really a pretty short time.

And I remember all the times Obama was counted out in the primary, in the campaign. AND despite the fact that the health bill is not what many here want and wanted, OBAMA PASSED IT. (Germany had government health insurance at the end of the 19th century; Bismark put it in to co opt the Socialist Party's talking points.)

So, overall, I'm still supporting Obama.

13. Yeah, but what did Obama pass?
A corporate sell-out bill to line the pockets of the health insurance industry.

Some "progress."
