higher hopes for our children? no. but they are more cynical than we are!
what a legacy!

my oldest son was too young to vote in '04. he was devastated when Kerry "lost."

"What happened, Mom?" he inquired the depressing day after.

4 years later, old enough to vote, he hit the streets. he registered voters, he made calls, he knocked doors. a complete abstainer, he had a glass of champagne after working the polls when Barack Obama was named the next POTUS.

when i voted in the primary a couple of weeks back he laughed at me. "Good job, Mom," he said, "That is going to make a difference! haven't you learned yet?"

what i have or haven't learned doesn't really matter. i wonder what he, and all of our other young, energized voters have learned?
