As American troops return from concluding combat operations in Iraq, some of them will soon be deployed to a friendlier front: the studio audience of “The Colbert Report.” During his Comedy Central show on Thursday night, Stephen Colbert, right, said that he would devote two of his shows, on Sept. 8 and 9, to celebrating and thanking American service members. Announcing the special series, “Been There, Won That: The Returnification of the American-Do Troopscape,” Mr. Colbert said: “No matter how you felt about this war, we Americans sent them off to fight it. And now that it’s over, we should thank them.
