Louisiana: Vitter Threatens Suit Over Traylor Radio Ad

By CQ-Roll Call Staff | August 20, 2010 10:37 AM | Permalink | Comments (0)

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) has not taken kindly to a hard-hitting radio ad released by Republican Chet Traylor this week ahead of their Aug. 28 primary.

Louisiana papers reported Friday that the Senator's attorney's have threatened to sue state radio stations if they continue to air the one-minute commercial, which hits Vitter for several high profile incidents concerning his conduct with women.

Vitter's lawyers are particularly upset by Traylor's use of a 1993 lawsuit to say that Vitter assaulted a female opponent. They also take issue with the commercial's description of an incident that involved the arrest of a former Vitter aide over an altercation with his girlfriend.

Vitter's lawyers call the claims made in the commercial "patently false and defamatory."

Democrats have long attacked Vitter on issues related to women after he was connected to the notorious D.C. Madame scandal in 2007 and Traylor's commercial also mentions that incident.

But despite the ongoing character attacks, polls continue to show Vitter well positioned in his re-election race. A survey released Thursday by WWLTV in New Orleans showed Vitter easily beating Traylor in the primary and up 12 points on expected Democratic nominee, Rep. Charlie Melancon. That Clarus Research Group poll was in the field Sunday and Monday. The survey of 600 registered voters has a margin of error of 4 points.

8. Wow - unrecommender trolls really trying to bury this story
apparently because the ads bring Republicon Family Pharisee Values into plain sight.

Ptoooey.

Vitter's temper tantrum & poo flinging will only bring more more more attention to the degenerate republicon ethos.
