Dean says Obama aides need to spend time outside DC
From The Hill:

Howard Dean: Obama aides need to spend 'some time outside Washington'

Howard Dean, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said Sunday that President Obama's political advisers are out of touch with average Americans and need to "spend some time outside Washington."

"The people around the president have really misjudged what goes on elsewhere in the country, other than Washington," D.C.Dean told Candy Crowley on CNN's "State of the Union."

"I don't think this is true of the president, but I do think his people, his political people, have got to go out and spend some time outside Washington for a while."

The comments came in response to recent criticisms lodged by White House spokesman Robert Gibbs against what he called the "professional left" — liberals who "wouldn’t be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president," Gibbs told The Hill earlier this month.

"I don't know what he meant by that," Dean said Sunday. "The average Democrat is a progressive. And, you know, there are some things that are upsetting about the kind of deals that were made by the president's people on health care."

cf. his confused and extremely out-of-touch remarks on the Manhattann Islamic community center.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

6. He is more in touch with outside the beltway than nearly anyone...
So I can disagree but still credit him with more common sense and integrity than Rahm, Gibbs, and Arne Duncan put together.

:hi:

7. Oh, yes.
I think he went down in 2004 because he was just too threatening to the Big Money people.

13. Howard Dean has worked in every state in the Union. When he
was DNC chair, he had Red State Republicans coming
to hear his talks at Meet-Ups. Ordinary citizens
not Republican Activists.

They told him they came because he believed in something.
They respected people who stand up for what they believe.
This is where he learned Americans will vote for people
with whom they disagree on some issues if the person has
the character to stand up for what he believes.

25. i read what he said, i just don't understand his viewpoint.
why let obama off the hook? i ask, dean, primarily, but i ask anyone, "Why?" unless he has some particular reason for excusing obama, he would seem to be supporting the president for policies he disagrees with.

26. I agree. It leaves us with no political leader speaking out.
But that is how he is, I guess. He won't be blamed for hurting the president.
