Disposed of 20 more 'handmade' Freedomworks 'grassroots' Sep. 12 signs today.

The xeroxed signs were taped up all over my local grocery store/strip mall parking lot and at several busy intersections nearby.

If the tearacist that put them up doesn't think I won't take them down every couple of days between now and then, they don't know me at all.

My wife is afraid I'm gonna get shot.

1. So you support censorship?
Or are you just against littering?

2. Censorship of a fake grassroots group supported by corporations and the GOP?
Edited on Tue Aug-24-10 12:38 PM by onehandle
They have an entire network to support them.

And it IS littering.

I don't want to look at these signs in my neighborhood for the next few weeks any more than I would like to see these:

17. Remember you said this
When the republicans, teabaggers, and uberconservatives decide they don't want to look at your propaganda anymore.

24. It's generally illegal to put up advertisements on public property.
Or on private property without the permission of the property owner.

Freedomworks is just as much of a profit-oriented business as NewsCorp or McDonald's.

4. Legally, those signs are probably considered litter.
Or, they're illegally placed anyway. You're just being a good citizen and picking up litter.

How nice of you.

5. The strip mall is doing some renovations. They're probably too busy to clean properly.
Just trying to help.

:)

7. To keep America clean.
This is less than a quarter square mile of area.

The United States is 3,537,441 square miles.

Use your imagination.

9. Yet let me guess, if somebody went around and tore down the signs you put up,
You would be screaming bloody murder about censorship and such.

It works both ways in this country. Besides, how do you know that the person who put those signs up didn't get permission of the shopping center and thus, what you did was illegal?

First Amendment applies to everybody in this country, not just to those you agree with.

11. I don't litter. And there is no way in Hell that the shopping center would allow this.

The crummy, ugly pieces of paper were placed in such a way that it was obvious that the tearacist was working under their radar.

Also we are in the greenest, most liberal county in Georgia.

13. So, can I come around behind you and tear down any signs you put up?
But that would be censorship now, wouldn't it. Which is exactly what you're practicing.

You may not agree with that person's opinions, but they have every right to express it, as do you. Going around tearing down signs you disagree with is not only censorship, but shows that you don't believe in the First Amendment. Sad, truly sad.

20. I don't put up signs illegally.
It's clear that they were illegally placed. The poster is simply doing his part as a citizen to enforce the law.

If someone tore down signs I legally placed it would be another matter.

to post signs or distribute fliers. And it's hands-off anything like a utility pole (owned by the electric company).

Find the owners and ask them if you can 'police' their lots.

16. So did I.
Then I went to the bookstore and hid the Ann Coulter books.

And then I went to McDonalds and screamed at the rightwing old fogies there.

It was a good day.

19. I know what you mean...
Usually I would not engage in a petty action like this, but as I said upthread, I did not want to stare at these things for the next few weeks.

I don't have to watch Fox News. This was in my face and in my mostly liberal community.

The horror of having to look at something with which you disagree.

What will you do if someone puts a right-wing billboard up in your mostly liberal community tomorrow?

22. I must confess onehandle
Edited on Tue Aug-24-10 04:27 PM by robdogbucky
that about a month ago I saw a crudely made handwritten cardboard sign "Dump Dems," with a hammer & sickle logo superimposed and then spray-painted red while running early in the morning. I ran past it, became enraged that someone in the cover of darkness spewed their propaganda about my party. Nothing constructive, just pure, over-the-top partisan hatred, displayed in a very crude way.

On my way back from my run I went past it and tore it down and took it home and cut it into little pieces for the recycle bin. I felt this blindly put piece of filth deserved its inevitable demise.

Ours is a quiet prosperous community and I sure see a lot of Obama/Biden stickers but also see a lot of RW stickers, etc. I was just shocked to see that crude sign here first of all, then I was enraged that someone would post such simplistic hatred in a public place stapled to a fencepost on City property for all driving past to view it, unopposed.

I have seen these same signs re-appear from time to time in the weeks since, but I have not been the person to tear them down. Someone else has gotten to the rest of them each time they appear in my neighborhood. That gives me hope.

Two things I am intolerant of it is blind hatred and chickenshit bullies. Some kind of contradiction, eh?

At least I am not alone.

Just my dos centavos
